Cleaning it up for start up, the shifter cover was scuffed up. I "thought" it was brushed metal, but turned out to be some kind of epoxy(?) paint and did not appreciate it when I took a buffer too it after a windex wipe down didn't work. So I re-painted it, and put a personalized touch on it.

Before I tried to clean/buff it.

There were a few holes in the firewall I wanted to plug up, as well as grommet one hole I had wires going through. So I 3D printed some grommet plugs. This includes the clutch rod boot, which I plan to later put a clutch in.

For the hood tach, my original hood tach and shell are in very rough shape, and since I plan on putting a digital screen and few indicator lights on it, I've wanted to 3D print a new shell with a custom interior to hold the screen, etc. The factory hood tach shape is very unsymmetrical, and was a challenge to 3D CAD, but I think I'm figuring out the tools well enough to be able to make something I can print.

Finessed a form surface over the shell. Overall I'm pretty happy with the shape.


Then thickened it up so the print has some strength to it. I'll create some mounting points and parts to slot an LCD screen into as well as the indicator lights. Probably have it all one piece that then has a bottom bolt on. I'll start with a plexiglass lens for ease of cutting, but can make a glass one once I have a finalize print.


As a reminder of what I am going for. I'm not 100% sure I'm going to use this screen or come up with another setup, but with 3D printing I have more flexibility to try different things.

Went through and did a nut, bolt and plug check. Put a fair bit of ATF in the transmission. Hooked up the battery and did all my power checks. Lights come on, switches do what they're meant to do. Pulled the tape off the turbo intake while I remembered!











Connected up the ECU and initially had an issue that wouldn't power up. Turned out the data logging indicator light was passing power through it and putting the ECU into a self protect mode that wouldn't start up. Got that sorted and it powered up and connected to the transmission controller, EGT box and IO board. Funny enough making a video of it, I scratched my head why two of the EGT's were reading low, and its for cylinders 7&8, LOL!

Next steps are commanding each injector and coil individually to see that they're wired correctly and then spin the engine. But it's 100ºF out.....
