I don’t see any signs of detonation on the plug photos. A couple of the plugs look like they have signs of some Lead fowling for some reason, but that isn’t going to be an issue going forward with pump gas. The race gas makes the plugs not appear as hot as they actually are, using pump gas it would be more obvious it is needing colder plugs.

I thought those little specs would be melted aluminum from detonation but I guess not. I just talked to the engine builder and he said he would put in the colder plugs and put the engine in the car but said if if not comfortable with that he would gladly take the engine back and inspect it. Now what do I do,,,, lol. I don’t want to waste my time taking it back if there’s no problem.
Yes those were new plugs,,, just dyno time on them. Don’t see any leaks yet but the engine isn’t back in the car yet either. The ngk 5670-6’s haven’t shown up yet. Also the xr4 they installed are gapped at .059. The new ngks when I get them I will gap at .045.

Did you see some Aluminum speckles anywhere? I didn’t see any, but I am looking a cell phone screen. The speck’s I was noticing where yellowish dark brown, which I think is from the extra lead in the race fuel.

Ok the specks are chunks of that yellow crap blasting away at whatever is coating the plugs is what I was thinking. When I looked at that first batch of pics it didn't look like metal.

I've seen similar yellow stuff on plugs before, on my stuff, and it's always been additives in the gas. I switch to another gas station and it goes away.

Maybe it's additives separating in storage cans/tanks? And getting a heavier dose?

Lead, that could be too, I've seen similar stuff when people use certain types of octane boosters.

Either way, it's probably not a good thing. Still think changing the gas would be a solution.

I’m not sure what those specs are. I dropped the engine back off at the shop today. I’m not sure exactly what the plan is but he said they’d check it over. He said looking at the pictures that those plugs look too hot of a heat range. Porcelain looked blistered on some plugs.I hope it didn’t do any damage. Going 2 numbers colder from a ngk 4 to a 6 and he said he’d put it back on the dyno again.
