Default Vintage/Classic Air

I will be installing an aftermarket air conditioning kit in my 1967 GTO that did not come with factory air. I am not very fond of the block off plates. Has anyone installed aftermarket ac and used the old heater box to keep a more factory look? I was thinking of running the hoses through the blower motor opening on the heater box.

I bought a kit from this place for my C10, haven't gotten time to install it yet.
