Default 67 & 68 Firebird rears

Yes that are as far as bolting in the rear track width is 60”, but in both years and even up thru 1969 there carrier’s
will only accept certain gear ratios as in.
2.56 to 2.78.

2.93 to 3.23.

3.36 to 4.33.

In 68 all the manual transmission cars got the HD 4 pinion Posi with 3.36 to 4.33 gears ( if the car did not have AC )and even the 6 cylinder cars with a manual trans supposedly got the HD 4 pinion rear also .

Naturally auto trans cars could have had the HD on special order.

In mid 69 the ring gear bolts changed from 3/8” to 7/16”.

Actually 69 is closer to 68 than 67 is.
68-9 used multi leaf springs,staggered shocks
67 used mono leaf
67 also used radius rods(like traction bars)
69 had flat spots on tubes for jounce bushings

internals were same as the GTO/LeMans/Tempest
