I think Bruce is a member of the POCI chapter that is hosting the convention. When I asked the chair of the convention why Bruce was doing a seminar, all he said was
" either you love him or hate him" .

His bashing of Ken Crocie bothers me also. Ken has helped me out alot over the years. In lieu of all the imput I've seen, I will be "on guard" in my dealings
with Mr. Fulper in the future. Who says you can't teach old dogs(or in this case, machinists,) new tricks. Puddles and RAIV55, I couldn't agree with you more. If you're not comfortable building your own engines,DON'T! Think about this: the average human hair is .003-.004 in diameter. A lot of clearances in performance engines are measured in tenths (.0001). In other words, 1/10 of 1/3 of a human hair! It takes many years to gain the experience to be comfortable dealing with these specs. I guess guys like me and Grandville455 take that for granted. After all, we do it for a living. |

To a machinist .1 is "one hunder thou" .01 is "ten thou" .001 is "one thou" If you ask a machinst to bore a block .125 (well in the old days you could) he might say bore it "one hundred twenty five thou" over. Machinists are different, but we do have fun. Send a rookie up to the tool crib for a "left handed screwdriver" or a "metric adjustable cresent wrench"

Those are fun games, some other favorites:
muffler bearings chem-lite batteries (for those glo-sticks you break & shake) the "india delta ten tango" - just send someone to go get this tool from someone else. Tell them to write it down on a piece of paper and hand it to the guy who has the tool. The guy who supposedly has the tool will get a kick out of a piece of paper that says: "I D 1 0 T" |

Colin, you are correct; but try saying "ten thousandths" about 100 times a
day. It gets shortened to "tenths" in a hurry. Sorry for any confusion. |

Before the new Beetle came out , the fun was to call a Autozone and ask them for a VW Bug radiator hose. Sad thing is , some of 'em never caught the joke.

I wonder what Mr. Rock y Roll, (that's spanish for Rock N Roll ) here in MexiCali, would do if all of these folks showed up at his seminar:
Customers he has burned. Customers that had an engine failure. Customers that didn't get their parts back. Customers that got something other than what they ordered. Customers who were charged up front for a part and months later never got their part, and had to make call after call after call to get the charges reversed. People who have taken him to court and won judgements against him. (A friend of mine who shall remane nameless said he is # 8 in line but can't collect because he has nothing) (All) people ( Janitors) who have worked for him that he accused of stealing. Would he sheeeeeeet his drawers or call them all liars ?

But from what Ive read on the posts, isnt this some sort of fraud when you have THAT MANY ? If I read his website correctly I dont think he accepts credit cards (check, cashiers check only) thats not a good sign. Although a small amount compare to others Im sure glad I didnt send $230 + shipping for a "specially designed cam for your combo"

People who have taken him to court and won judgements against him. (A friend of mine who shall remane nameless said he is # 8 in line but can't collect because he has nothing) (All) people ( Janitors) who have worked for him that he accused of stealing. a couple of years ago i assisted two brothers in building nostalgia A F/X style drag tempests which are currently on the racing curcuit. one of the brothers called RnR engineering and ordered a fiberglass hood. fulper said "no problem but it will take 2-3 weeks" because it comes from a fiberglass place in ohio. the cost was $250.00. it was then ok'd and a credit card number/info was given at that time . two months later and phone call's after phone call's we still had nothing. we started looking around only to find the place that fulper deals with in ohio. the salesman that we spoke to said fulper never placed an order with him. we immediatly called the credit card company and found that not only was the charge placed from RnR ENGINEERING,BUT $450.00 WAS CHARGED ON THE CREDIT CARD! * THIS JUST IN FROM POCI. charles abbot (a director of the southern california chapter) was contacted over the weekend to speak with him in great detail about fulper . he was asked if fulper was going to do a tech talk/seminar at this years poci convention and his reply was "ahhhh, yeah, is that good or bad"? he was asked why POCI seems to ignore the fact that so many people in this small pontiac fraternity have experienced major problems with FULPER and/or RnR ENGINEERING. his reply was "this could all be false rumors and hear say". he was asked to put to rest the rumors of fulpers involvment in this years poci convention. mr. abbott explained that fulper paid $1,000.00 for advertisment in this years poci convention program for the back page,as did people like CPR (california pontiac restorations) for the inside back page. fulper asked to do the seminar and poci simply said "sure, no problem". (i wonder where that $1,000.00 came from :0 ) . mr. abbott seemed extremely defensive at first. didn't know what to say and actually didn't want to talk about it. persistance might of paid off because he was then asked ..."look, you have to admit,...so many people are complaining, major publications refuse to have him advertize, drag strips across the u.s. refuse to allow him to announce,he has and is being sued all the time...wouldn't an open minded person ask themself why and doesn't this look suspicious to you?" mr. abbott finally calmed down and expressed a personal story where he was cheated. he said not long ago a poci member back east was in the pontiac business and not only cheated him out of a lot of money but other members as well. all of the members got together, provided proof like receipts, written documents, photographs, etc collected the facts along with type written letters and submitted everything to the major POCI DIRECTORS INCLUDING EMERITUS. after that a meeting was called and the final decision was made to ban this person from advertising or being a major part of poci in any business oriented way. so there you have it folks. bottom line is this. some people out there need proof right in front of thier faces. would going to this seminar and speaking up in front of fulper help? certainly, but it wont change the minds of poci. if everyone wants to get together here and finally do something about this here is your chance. allthough i bet hundreds of emails & letters would come in i'm sure a dozen hard facts presented to poci might just let them realise and ban him . if you guys truly want to stop this person lets do it.....sort of a "there's power in numbers" type of situation. |

I remember when Bruce and I were friends before he became the Pontiac EXPERT. I was thinking about building a 474 and I talked with him about it after reading Jim Butlers ads when JBP first started selling the rotating assemblys. I asked Bruce how they could get that many cubic inches. He wouldn't tell me how they could do it and said that the combination was ridiculous.
So I called Jim Butler. Boy was he nice. He took time to answer all of my questions and tell me how they came to that cubic inch. He even told me how to have my own 455 nodular crank offset ground to save me a few bucks. Another thing that was appealing was the 6.800 rods were about $200.00 cheaper than the rods Bruce was selling. Needless to say I ordered the rest of the setup from JBP. Sorry Bruce, you lost that sale. Oh yeah, I ran the same bottom end from 2000 to Feb 2006 and I love that 474 combination. In fact, I'm still running a 474 in the blower car. Same crank and rods.

...on the other hand there exist a small group (of idiots) that persistently generate & propagate crap about only a few people. By definition, it is all false: A small group of idiots would have to be doing a whole lotta business, across alotta land, to get first-hand information huh, and having lots of bad results.
============================================== So always go with first-hand information as fact. Without that, go with close, personally-vetted friends for guidance. Other than these, you will hear "really bad stuff" that is entirely false, regardless of how loud it it typed. Usually from idiots. ============================================== The most valuable thing we have for each other is our good name. :ranger: HIS |
