Talking

Did anyone here meet or talk to JIM CHRISTENSEN who bought one of MT's 63 421SD Tempests. The car ruled the street's of SO CAL around 1965.

Default More pics Gray Ghost aka Assassin

Here are some more present day shots of the Gray Ghost's archaic underpinnings, imagine running 8 second times with this. Can you say hold on to your butt????? The drivers of these must have had balls of steel racing these beasts.
Pretty rough, all there but engine/trans.
Check out the spindle mount wheels real magnesium as are the rear slots.

What's with the two pieces of steel welded to the top of the banjo housing? It looks like they decided to eliminate rear suspension at some point in time? I can't see that the tops of the pieces are attached to the chassis cross-tube, but they appear to be right up tight against it.

Scary stuff.

I thought it might be fun to do a tribute to Dick Jesse's '65 "Mr Unswitchable", but when I saw some of the workmanship (ie, spacing the body up with stacks of washers, etc) I thought I would stick with more modern technology...

Appears to be a centering/locating device, notice no panhard rod. It is slotted & the suspension does move freely up & down. Hope that answers your ???

Great pics! Thanks for sharing. The Royal pic is reversed, lettering is mirror image and the driver is on the right side of the car instead of the left.

Keith, that last image is INSANE The guy has all four wheels off the ground, and he does not look like he's crapping his pants either. Maybe the photgrapher was so good that he got the shot before he put a few coffee beans in his shorts

I rec'd these images from friends in WA state and these are from Bremerton Raceway, right across Puget Sound from Seattle, a ferry boat ride away. I drive on the ferry to race there and have laid down a few low 12's myself there
