I DO have 14" of gross clearance, if I went to a ladder bar I could use all of the space.

The rear of my springs are moved in 1 3/4".

Derek- One thing to note, I know you like the rear higher than I do. At my ride height I only have 1.5" of shock travel. I would consider installing the "in trunk" shock mount. I think this will give you another 2" or more of shock travel.

I would also recommend using a ladder bar style (vertical) shock mount. This way the shocks and mounts are located for a four link or ladder bar.

Ya i have been thinking about the shocks as i dont have alot of room right now, once i lower it i will have fun trying to make these shocks work.

Not sure i understand what you mean by a ladder bar mount?

ah yes, thats basically what i have but only one hole. I was going to either go with something like that or just measure it up and get a mount made for the bottom which will give me the extra room. How low can you go with a shock mount before it is as low as the diff bottom is my limitation though.

I will address that once i get the diff in, etc.

So i am looking at fuel cells, anybody have any recommendations? How do they have to be mounted? aluminum or plastic? foam or no foam?

Can i get one without a sending unit and just install my factory unit or do i need to get it with the unit included?

Does my stock sheetmetal between the trunk and seat ( under the rear window too where the speakers mount) classify as a proper firewall or do i need to add one that has no holes?

Also looking at narrower rims and tire setup or the front. Currently have 15x6 (or 15x7?) with 235/60's and looking to go narrower and possibly shorter. Might go to a 15x4 rim and small skinny on front but having a hard time finding anything DOT approved.

Anyone running skinnies on the front?

Looks like M&H is the only one with a DOT approved skinny.

If you get an aluminum you can just cut a hole for the sump and bolt it down to the floor where the plastic tanks use straps and require some sort or shield under the pick-up area. My 16 gal RCI with sender was starting to cave in on top so I got rid of it. Thinking about a 10 gal alum cell with sender now for around $180. Had foam in my RCI but don't know if it made any difference.

Thanks for the info. Found a summit aluminum for sale a couple hours from here, waiting on an email back from the seller. (sum-290220-s) 20Gal alum, looked it up on summit but they are out of stock so they dont show the price. Guy is asking 250 and its only had one tank of fuel through it.

I would get a cell with foam. You can't use the OEM sender b/c it has the pickup mounted to it. Make sure it has a return and vent tube.

I would get one with a sump style outlet. This will allow access to the plumbing from underneath. Be aware, the sump underneath will need a shield ( i think) to deflect an impact on the fittings.

You need a one piece barrier between interior and fuel cell.

So i picked up some plate for the frame mod but am unsure how deep i should go into the frame. What did anybody else do, cutout the full width to the back piece or just enough to make the frame stay straight through its angled area? Looks like most modded it the whole length of the straight section?

Also, did anyone weld up the frame that is not solid due to the body being cut out or just weld up the modified area?

Derek-

The width of the minitub will dictate how much of the frame to section. Place the new section in there and reference the width on the trunk floor.

I can make the width of the tub any width up to 12.5'' (just the inner tub alone). I am not using the DSE tubs so its alittle different.
