If the **** hits the fan you’d better have a points ignition because magnetic pulse solid state type stuff is gonna be EMP. Dead. I keep a couple points ignitions around just in case because most likely attack on Us is an EMP
These are open questions , not just pointed at any single individual.
as follows

1. Will your 12v batteries survive EMP , to start your car ?
I'm gonna say no , but I'm not a scientist.

2. Can you roll start the car with a complete dead battery , or no battery at all ?

3. If it will roll start , how far can it be driven without a battery ?

4. Have any of you put this to an actual real world test ?

I have never tried this , but don't think it will work on late 60 - early 70 American cars.
Bmans bug might go with a generator charging system if the condenser doesn't fry from EMP.
And long hill to roll crank to get the generator buzzing.

I do know what will work.
A full mechanical VW Diesel from 1979 - 1992.
No battery needed and will run all day after roll starting. (with fuel solenoid spring removed - aka full on)
Will roll crank within 25 feet pushing it yourself on flat ground (and not arctic cold outside)
No ignition system or electricals required

ooooh Mr Magneto !
You didn't have that set up in the other pictures (sand-bagger)
Okay you'll be driving , as long as you can steal/siphon gas from all the dead cars everywhere.
The gas pumps will all be defunct , and nobody will be bothering to hijack the storage tanks at stations since their cars will be completely useless anyway.

You passed GO

I don't think the other guys are as prepared as they presume.
if it even matters - food for thought

And what will the cops be driving ? Horses and Bicycles ?

I can run on about anything except gasoline or water.

Stopping production of the Bolt and replacing it with a higher priced electric SUV seems like a bad plan. it's one of the few relatively low priced EVs with decent range that's available. I'd think they could update the Bolt's batteries to their latest Ultium system if they wanted to.

The Blazer and Equinox EV utilizing the Ultium system will be out by the time that the Bolt goes away. The Equinox will be more attractive to more people with a reasonable $30,000 base price. The Bolt, upgraded to the new technology wouldn't be much less than that.

I assumed the Equinox would be more expensive than that. Still, I'd personally like to see more options available than SUVs.

This may come as news to you, but cars aren't selling.

Chevy sold about 115,000 Malibu's last year - and it's the only non-performance car they sell today. Cadillac only sold about 10,000 CT4's and 16,000 CT5's.

They sold 212,000 Equinox's (which is actually a crossover, not an SUV). All together, GM sold about 815,000 crossovers. FWIW - the Bolt is a CROSSOVER also - basically an electric Chevy Trax. The Bolt and the Trax had very similar sales numbers - 27,000 for the Bolt EUV and 26,000 for the Trax.

They only sold about 263,000 SUV's (Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Escalade).

It appears that GM is planning to build the EV's that the majority of GM customers are most inclined to buy at this at this point in time.

There will be 'cars' in the near future for GM here. They are introducing the Malibu replacement in China for 2024. I would expect that we could see it here in 2025.

Yes, I know cars don't sell as well as SUVs or crossovers, but that doesn't mean I want one. Like I said it was my personal opinion.

The way things are going you wont have a choice on what you drive at all. Everyone will have a EV suv because thats sells the best and now they offer nothing else..They might let you choose from 3 colors though because the other colors dont sell well. You will have to buy a EV if you want a brand new vehicle because they are forcing you to. Sounds great doesnt it? Sarcasm at WOT. Ever watch the original matrix movie where the robots use humans as batteries? Hmmmm,,,,,I wonder.....

Those #'s are shockingly low to me...I never really looked at the modern sales #'s

However I can't even think of anyone who could afford a new anything.

Didn't GM get out of the car business years ago - EV's excluded?

Have you seen the video of Jay Leno trying out the new dodge demon? The man is how old and is giggling like a teenage girl with a huge smile on his face,,,,it was great to see! Hearing that super charger whine,,breaking the tires free at will,,8 speed going through the gears. You can have the battery operated spacely sprocket looking electric cars. Its depressing to hear them talk about that this is the last year of the ICE dodge musclecar. Maybe when they realize later that they made a mistake theyll bring them back.

A recent Tesla burn.

If it was one of my cars and I caught this guy in the act, probably need a lawyer right now

Pretty Amazing the cars system was still functioning to provide the Sentry mode Video after being burned
