Thanks. When you get the tuneup fully dialed in. How much boost will you be able to run?

Not sure at this point when additional boost won't make more power. We still have timing to play with too.

On our last track outing on May 27th, we encountered a transmission problem. The tune set the launch boost to approximately 14 lbs, which is about 6 lbs more than our previous launches. The initial hit was significantly harder than before, but shortly after, we experienced a sharp decrease in acceleration. The car then started pulling again but rapidly shifted from first to third gear, accompanied by a sharp decline on the G meter. Reviewing the data logs, we noticed that both the converter charge and line pressure were extremely low compared to previous successful runs. While loading up to go home, we detected a distinct smell of burnt transmission fluid. We had been using John Deere Hy-Gard fluid, which we later discovered is not recommended for turbo cars.
Upon returning home, we removed the transmission and sent it out for inspection and refresh. Despite the burnt smell, the transmission was in good shape, except for needing a new front pump and replacing two clutches (actually replaced all of them) that showed some discoloration. After refreshing the transmission, we disassembled and cleaned the converter, flushed out the lines and transmission cooler, and then re-installed everything. While checking fluid levels, I noticed that the driver’s side bank was reporting an AFR of 18-20. After thoroughly checking everything, I couldn't find any issues on that side. The engine ran and sounded great when I changed the tune to use the passenger side O2 sensor only. Eventually, I discovered a header leak on the #5 cylinder at the double slip collector. The mild steel tube on #5 had shifted enough to pull itself out of the collector. To fix the issue, Michael Hall extended the collector side for cylinder #5 by about 1/2 inch. Now, the O2 readings are correct on both banks. After some general maintenance this weekend, we will be race ready.

Nice trans and nice RS/SS in the background! I sure get tired of fighting the top bolts on mine with the CSR trans shield!

Thanks, the Camaro has a RAIV Pontiac engine with a 4 speed. I hear ya, I was running a CSR trans shield a few years back. We swapped over to the Reid case when we broke the bell and part of the trans body back in October 2019. The Reid case is a really nice piece.
