Ebay is like a 70-72 TA smorgasbord lately. There are currently seven such TA's listed with 6 white and 1 LB. Not sure if that is a good or bad indicator for strength in pricing, but it doesn't seem like many are selling at the elevated pricing.

I like the white one parked with BG SD 455. Would like to see more of the Super Duty.

In '70 all blue interior cars got blue belts (an oddity) all other color interiors with "base belts" got black belts. If you ordered deluxe belts, then they matched the interior color.

In '71 base belts were black and deluxe belts were color keyed.

I almost did the same to my first 1970 Formula in 1982. So glad I did not go through with it.

sad that it is a true Trans Am, but I would love it and drive it like I stole it.

I think the wheels take away from the car just as much......but they change out far easier than the roof....

Still has the original "open face" alternator...

Wouldn't bother me at all if I bought it cheap enough.

I am imagining the cahunas and nerves of steel it takes to take the first saw cut into a beautiful Lucerne TA roof, not to mention an iron commitment to doing what you want.

Don't forget that the "sex change" was likely done in the late 70's.......in a glass shop....by a guy with a sawzall....that didn't like his job....OR actually CARE what he was cutting up....

I think this may be the same car I called on in Hemmings almost 20 years ago (how many otherwise pretty solid blue '71 Canadian T/As with T-Tops could there be?). Seller made no mention of T-Tops in the picture-less ad, and he spent about 10 minutes describing the car to me over the phone before casually slipping in the bit about the T-Tops. My interest waned fast....

I don't think a roof swap would be that difficult, though, so if the price were discounted sufficiently, it might not be a bad way to go.

If the windshield pillars are solid I would think it would be an easy fix. Maybe three grand with the roof repair, paint, and a new headliner? Just a guess.

I looked @ a 74 SD Formula here for sale..on a sleazy used car lot.....in the mid 80's....with C & C T-tops.....had 15 x 7" snowflakes on it....looked like an esprit with a shaker....

Thankfully....the person that bought it replaced the roof and restored it....

I have to question the "all original sheetmetal" comment in the auction. Don't I see a service replacement right front fender in one of the underhood shots?
