The license plates are late 70s issue. Might have spent time somewhere else before it came to California.
or not...

It also has Bay Area license plate frames (Hayward on the east bay) May have been exposed to salt air.
or not...

It would be nice to see the Fisher Body Plate. May explain its origins.

Or dried up seals that leaked water...

Agreed, Greg!

Def seemed to go cheap compared to other Pontiac muscle nowadays.

The 455 engine is easily worth that.

Another car that put its eggs all in the wrong basket and shame to waste a pace car. Not my car and not my money or dream, but the ROI on this one has to be bad. I own an 80 turbo T/A I paid $5K for 2 years ago, and if you started with that car you be in the same ballpark once this one is done. It's a nice car, but the plan on this 1980 Trans Am pace car looks like a money pit to me. No pics of the interior or engine, but the ad states the original turbo engine remains. Looks like a lot of money spent on some really nice suspension parts. IMO, if it was left stock it would probably be worth close to what it it's worth now. Prolly won't sell, but we'll see. $9800 in Ohio reserve not met.

68 GTO 4-speed car in Virginia no engine or trans and the seller claims it came with a 455... um, meethinks not. Hideaways are there, but I don't think the car is worth the $6500 BIN with the rust.

He went back and corrected the 455 engine claim. Could be a pretty car with the parchment interior but yeah, pretty rough.

It’s an ultra rare ‘68! ‘Cause it’s a ‘69! 😁

69 Firebird convert in Missouri at $55K BIN. Expensive, but it's beautiful. I love the Camaro spoiler on these cars. Can someone tell me definitively if the "400-4" sticker on the air cleaner is stock?

Definitely not stock, but they have been around for years.

It is a copy of the stickers Buick used to use on their air cleaners from the factory.

If you're going to take on a car like this it's best to start with a CA non-rusted one.

Those stickers have been the source of a LOT of criticism on this site for years.

The air cleaner itself is wrong, the short snout like that is for 1970 "non-performance" 4 bbl engines (GP or big car 400, 455 non HO etc)

67 Firebird in Pennsylvania at $4K NR. Claims it's a 400 4-speed, but it could be an engine swap. The ad is nothing but engine pics so it's hard to tell what's going on here. Also claims it's yellow, but it looks red? Someone needs to go look at it.
