Received a call from Leo at R&L Engines:
The heads have been disassembled, cleaned and checked for cracks; everything looked good. No problems with the guides and the valve seats are standing proud - new term I learned. We're gonna check the flow on a few ports before we move forward. I am probably gonna have the crossover filled. He said the existing port work was very mild, the stock shape was barely modified, all good news he said. Head flow results in a few days. Steve |

I got my heads back from R&L today. The ports look really good and the flow has now been corrected and increased. Thanks to LEO at R&L and Len Caverly for their help on these old heads.

My 455 block has finally been rebuilt by Lawrence Crankshaft.

My Brother Ed and I started to get the engine back together. Cleaning out all the threads to get ready to install the ARP Head Studs. Twist them in until they bottom out, then loosen a 1/4 turn. Molly lube is used on all the threads. More assembly today.

Great work, I have been following this thread for a while. From pics 1 and 4 in post #216 it appears that the calipers have been installed on the wrong sides, as I believe the bleeder should be on the top side of the caliper, this will allow air to escape the system when you bleed. Please others chime in to confirm this.

Good catch Tempest, you're right, the bleeder should be up.
