More work on the wheelwells today. Cut out the passenger side completely and lined the floor cut with angle. This will be the base for the sheetmetal tub wall. You can see the floor cut and the angle welded to it. The other pic is the side shot from the wheelwell showing the rail and the angle attached to the floor edge above the rail.
![]() ![]() I have to figure out the sheet cutouts to fit everything. The drivers side has an enlongated form to accomodate the gas tank fill pipe. I have a feeling that the drivers side is going to be a bear to form and put in. Of course cutting things out is always the fun and easy part. Mark L

Thats what pieces of cardboard and tape are for! lol I especially like that thin walled cardboard some boxes are made of....I have seen some flat screen TV boxes have them. Make excellent templates. Lookin good Mark. Really once you start things progress. Hoping our cold snap (the whole winter so far really) ends soon so I can get out there without getting numb fingers and nose.

Did some more on the tubs. I used the old metal I cut out to shape the bottom of the tub form (out of press board),
![]() Then turned it around to form the top curve of the form. Which came out like this. ![]() This is how it ended up inside the trunk against the angle iron edges. ![]() ![]() Once I'm happy with the fit I'll form the wall of the tub on the form with an extra 1.5 inches over the top. I'll use the form to bend and hammer the top overlap over the top of the form to make the top angle. Then I'll form the wide curved tub by laying it over the top of the old wheelwell still remaining. And span across over the form with another added 1.5 overlap. I'll bend and hammer that edge over the form again forming two overlapping edges that will get tack welded together once everything is in place. I hope. I did that on my '67 Nova years ago and it turned out well. Mark L

Made the one inner tub and put it in place.
![]() Placed tire/rim in final resting place. ![]() ![]() Now I have to cut open the other side and place that tire in and measure for the reare end width. MArk L

Finally got set on and ordered my cam. It was spec'd out by Harold. He used to design the Ultrdyne brand cams.
No card yet but-- 251int/241 exh @ 0.050 116 with .630 net lift solid roller. That's all I know for now. My TA had 248/248 114 .522 / .533 there abouts net on a solid flat tappet Comp Cam. This roller should be a lot stronger although the manners may be very different with the 406 shorter stroke versus the 462 long stroke. Time will tell. Mark L

Yep........and the TA cam has 114 LSA. But the lift on the TA is around .608 or .590 with lash with the 1.65 rockers, which is what I'm adding and I believe what you plan to use. It was .538 or .520 net with lash with the 1.5's. There'll probably be a huge difference in ramp angle with your new roller cam too. What rockers will you be running? I'm surprised that the HS rockers were not considered strong enough. Even though I know the roller setup and heavier springs is a greater force on them its not some monster cam being spun at 8500 rpm. But what do I know?........lol

Aron Scorpion 1.72 ratio for 7/16 stud SBF will fit. They are very nice pieces and affordable.

Thanks Bruce, I thought about the scorpions if I was going to buy.....but ended up trading my HS 1.5's to a guy for his HS 1.65's....which are really 1.72

Been working on the wheel wells. And had the rearend widened.
Wheelwells done except for cleaning up the weld soot and dressing the weld blobs. ![]() ![]() Got a pic of the headers and crossover too. ![]() And one of the widened rearend with the tires and rims installed for mocking up the placement. ![]() Going to build the ladder bars next but have to determine if the engine set back and the longer length of the 4L80 will move the trans mount back far enough to use the same crossmember for both the trans and bars??? Then I can figure out the firewall/floor cutting too. Mark L

You don't think that crossover tube is too big? Don't you want to keep the velocity as high as possible to get it to spool?

The maker of the headers, Jeff Pollazo uses them on his '69 Firbird with I think an 88MM turbo. His spools up just fine. So I hope mine does as well. For now mine is a 75MM turbo. Hope to find out some day. Mark L

Actually. I'd prefer two 75s. But I'd be happy with a 91MM. A single 75MM is actually kind of small. Mark L

I forgot I had these old pics in an old file. This is an early turbo mock up with twin GN turbos, a tunnel ram and the elbow I was talking about for my new EFI set up.
![]() ![]() Just thought I'd throw them up. Mark L

That's insane. You couldn't hardly spool a single 85mm on a diesel but if ran a smaller turbo feeding the 85 you could make 1200 ft lbs of torque and in the 700hp range pretty easily.
My roommate runs a 94 Cummins with a 66mm feeding a 93mm and it's laggy as hell but when it lights he's gone. He's ran as fast as 12.6 with absolutely no traction launching on 5psi. I can't imagine dual 75mms.
