You know it. As Brewster said, I know a guy that knows a little bit about 455 HO's.

Yeah, it's kinda hard to see it go down the road, but I was getting really paranoid about driving it with the crazy value it was getting. I really am looking forward to driving (and enjoying) a less valuable car. I'm not sure the HO Formula's will long qualify as less valuable, but at least for now. I will miss the dropped jaws at the TA Nats when people watched you pull into the host hotel parking lot and couldn't believe it was driven 350 miles. But, knowing it has gone to a really good home and is going to be restored correctly is comforting. It will be a contender with Brewsters former SD. Dennis |

Dennis your annual trip will be a historical story for gens to come. What you did was enjoy that car to its fullest and my hat is off to yah.
On the note about being a contender with my old ride is a hard if not impossible call. One can no longer obtain original GM parts of that quality let alone correct in date codes, product numbers... It just isnt possible in todays day and age period. Look forward in running our rare birds to the Nats, Norwalk and ??? |

Brew,
I was just seeing if you were paying attention, nothing can match the level your car achieved. It truely is the high water mark for the SD's and the bar is as high as it can go. I'm hoping that my old car can at least sit in the shadow of your old SD when it's done. I can't wait to get the car ready for the road trips and a few passes down the strip this summer. I'm even going to get the A/C working as well. There's going to be a strong running silver '72 that is going to be hard to keep up with, so I'll have to get to work right away (ha,ha). Dennis |

I still drive my 74 from Sault Ste Marie to Woodward Dream cruise every year since 2009. 350 miles one way and lots of cruising. Restored orginal number car. These cars with 3.08 are a blast to drive on the highway too. Driving these cars on the open road it a great feeling. Now my 71 HO car with 3.73 forget about it. Fun in the city is all your getting.

Is this the bottom of an HO heat riser? Think may be, found the other day in my stash.... I'll stick in sale ad here if so, more to help someone as it can't be worth much...

BIRD72, is that an original or repop?...many moons ago (1990) I replaced my original drivers side 455 H.O. outer only heat shield with a repo. from AMES...it was an exact looking duplicate of my factory one (that I DID NOT save unfortunately...back then my thinking was into the scrap heap (the car was not even 20 years old yet)...for whatever reason I ordered a new one in 2013 but ended up trading parts with PAT BROWN of 455 H.O.COM fame...I wonder if he needs it?...morale is I wonder if anyone has a photo of an outer GM piece as I am curious to compare to my 25 year old AMES repop...gosh my repop is an antique!?

Apparently Ames has the inner shield too in order to complete the kit.
