Just figured while we were in there we would beef her up a bit and if anyone ever wanted, they could easily swap manifiolds/exhaust for better performance. Also, I figured it better run close to a super duty since that's what you're used to. I want to make sure you're happy when we trade.

Hey Bob, I suppose you know of this one being in the backyard and such? Is that one of Dicks finger prints on that motor ? Allot of detailing for such a low mileage car kind a makes me wonder what kind of life this car has had ?

High Performance Pontiac May 2010

Great article on Larry Leist primer 1973 sd car that has a great picture of him and the car shortly after delivery. The different shades of primer are clear in the photo and trimmed out with Buccaneer Red flares, spoilers, valance, nose and SHAKER. Gotta love those white wall GR 70-15 radials with no trim rings.
Would have loved to have seen that car tearing up the track at Elkhart Lake Wisconsin.
Makes me want to go for a rip !

Wouldn't you know it? After probably 10 or 12 years of subscribing to HPP I finally just got tired of the same old stuff and the same cars recycled over and over (at least that's what it seemed like). Odd that it was a SD...
But a column Shift /non console SD???

Freak! That Red interior just blows me away and would have to have sun glasses on even on a cloudy day. It does look kinda cool from a DISTANCE though!

Notice the car in primer including the rear spoiler however they took the time to paint the nose ? Maybe it didnt go through the same primer (paint line) which would have matched the car better. Weird, maybe those noses where per painted and they just pulled it of the line ? or the nose used a flex primer that was a different color ?

I was wondering the same thing. I know the front spoiler and tire spoilers were molded in color, so they had to pick from red, white or green. But the nose was obviously not molded in color.

Since there are plenty of instances of original paint cars where the nose doesn't match the rest of the paint, and since they probably did put in some sort of flex agent (which would not have been in the paint used in the main line system).... noses were probably pre-painted, either at the assembly plant or at the supplier. So the assembly plant must have picked red just to match the other bits.

It is just odd that it got shipped in primer, though. You'd have thought if the plan was that the dealer was going to have to paint it anyway, there wasn't much difference in painting over primer vs. painting over a sanded topcoat of paint. And it would likely have been easier for the plant to process the car with paint...

This interior was restored incorrectly, it has bright red on the whole interior. The dash and console should be dark red, not the bright red color. The dark red and bright red colors don't go well together, but that is the way they were built.

74 was the only year firebird that had this two-tone red color interior.

It was an approved combination to order Admiralty blue paint with this bright red interior, but fortunately not many were ordered.
