Her name is Red...last in the collection, the 66 LeMans just DIDN'T fulfill that need! I sold a '66 Telecaster, 66 Vibrolux Reverb and a Historic Les Paul Custom...those three pieces paid for 1/2 of the car...not too shabby! She came home Jan 2007, found her on eBay, on the other side of the country, had a great vibe from the seller right from the start. Other than a broken belt and leaking tranny, I haven't really HAD to do anything. The springs & shocks have been replaced as well as a Moog rubber front suspension kit. And...can someone PLEASE tell me how to remove those goofy chrome headlight things! They don't just come off from the front...do the headlights have to be removed from the backside? Thanks....

This was from the SoCalPOCI Show a few months back...first car show I ever entered, she took 2nd place...that was pretty cool!!!

"What color is the interior - black?"
Yeah, it's got black interior....was originally teal blue, but didn't quite do it for me, so I went to black.

Just got mine a couple of months ago. Now have it torn apart-fixing the hideaway headlights.

I'm a sucker for blue on blue cars...or red on red for that matter.

I came SO CLOSE to buying a 68 'vert that was turquoise on turquoise...is was SO SHARP...

Sorry - I glanced over the post too quickly.

I don't have hideaways, but how do I change the bulbs? Do they come out from behind? Reason I'm asking...the prior owner installed some goofy chrome eyelid things over the headlights (it looks so 70s) and I can't for the life of me figure out how to take the headlights out.

They have to be removed from behind, right?

Blackcherry,
Good looking 68!!.........
To get headlight out: remove the bezel, and take out 3 phillips head screws holding the headlight ring. The headlight will then come out of the bucket. The "chrome eyelid things" are being held in by the headlight ring.

Thanks!

I should probably post some pix, so you'll see what I'm talking about here...I can't remove the bezel - it gets held up by the endura front end. Do I remove the inner grill first so I can remove the bezel around the headlights?

PS - before any mods have a conniption, I asked this question a few times in the 68 A body forum and never got an answer...

OUCH!...I saw the thread you posted on that a while back. That was a shame. Great car that can (and I'm sure will) be fixed.

Well I was pushed into a jersey barrier and in doing the car, things went a little far. Before you know it, it snow balls and you are replacing the little things that do not look as great as the rest of the car. Mine turned into new front and back glass, seat covers and a light spray on the door panels. New carpet and all the stainless polished and.........so here are the then and now.
