There are at least two guys right here running 88's on their 455 based motors. Kris in Iceland, and Jeff in Connecticut. Mine is a 77mm, but I was only running 230 cfm iron heads and put out 886 to the rear wheels at 15 psi....going to see if 77mm will keep up with the new 320 cfm E-heads.....I havent found my compressor map to look yet.

That's awesome. I guess gas motor can spool turbos better than Diesels can but then again even a 455 has a MUCH wider RPM range than a diesel.

Diesels are a whole different world. Low rpm and lots of boost(once spooled).

My old Rajays are approx 55 mm inducer. Probably take 20-25 psi to get 800 hp out of the pair and it would need pretty much stock heads to keep them in the compressor map. They would light quick though.

Mark, 2 S471's look to be a better match than a pair of S475's.

At bottom of page there are tutorials.

http://www.turbodriven.com/files/pdf...alog_SMALL.pdf Page 40 for the 83mm turbine page 41 for the 96 mm turbine. Both pages have the 71 and 75 mm compressors. You may want to look at a single S510 on page 43 95mm inducer and 110mm turbine. Has a twin scroll turbine inlet so should spool pretty good.

Because you got high flowing heads adjust your ve by about 10-15% over what you would for your old heads especially at higher rpms.(definately going to be over 100% ve capacity)

Spent the day attaching the "Leischer Hood Tilt Mechanism". I used the original hood hinges from the '63 Catalina. You take the hinge, turn it upside down and rotate the firewall flange to the front. The first pic is the drivers side hinge bolted in place on its angle bracket welded to the frame side. Above it you can see the cross brace/bar that the upright form the front flange of the hinge will attache to.

The next is the passenger side sitting folded all the way down. The position it will be in when the front end in down in place.

Then the hinge is extended up about a quarter of its travel. You can see the front flange where the upright will attach.

Then the last is the hinge extended all the up and forward.

I now have to start making the upright and any other extensions to tie it all together and make it solid. Once it is all done and assembled. I will attach the original hood hinge springs and it will almost open itself. I did this on my '63 Catalina back in 1972 by bolting it directly to the original frame horns and the other side to the back of the radiator core support. I worked great. It even lifted the front apron that sits up under the front bumper, out and around the bumper. I was totally amazed at my good forture that it worked so well.
I also traded my 4 inch wide skinnies for a really nice set of 14 inch slots with some nice sized tires. 225-70-14s. Actually turned out pretty nice. I have the front end sheet metall all assembled for the tilt work and the new ties and wheels so I'll get some good shots tomorrow. Mark L

Hey Troy, damn good to see you on my posts. Thanks Lee. I'm an old show off so it's easy for me, heh!

!!! YOU READY FOR SOME TILT BALL !!!???
(Don't look to close at the ugly guy in the picture. It followed my wife home one day and she's still trying figure how to get rid of it).

The bottom of the fenders are a problem I have to address. They do not allow me to lift it by myself so I have to figure out how to get them to pop out after releasing whatever I use for a hold down/clasp. Mark L

I love the look the tilt front gives.

Really starting to take shape, I'm a fan!

For the fender issue, could you cut a pie slice out of the bottom corner of the fender and attach it to the car? If you understand what I'm saying, not many do. HA!

Kind of like this.

Would require a lot of body work though. But you got time.

And hide the door hinges too.

Hey Chris. I understand completely. When I did this to my '63 back in '73 I did cut the fender bottom off and attach it to the body. But I was never happy with the look of the fender cut apart. But the cut I did was much larger. I used the mid point (top to bottom) of the fender body line and cut straight across to just above the wheelwell back curve then on a 45 down to the wheelwell. This worked great for the tilt but again I just didn't like the cut line. Aron suggested using something like a drawer slide attached under the hinges to roll/pull th efront assemby straight forward first then up. Which would work great. But I would need to revamp my hinge monts first. But a viable alternative. Thanks for the suggestion Chris. Mark L

All good. The sliding idea is a good one too! Didnt think of that. Might not need much, 6-8" maybe?

Mark,

Can you "spring" the fenders so they would need pins and a bit of hand pressure to push in and line up once pinned?
