The only thing that I wanted to do that we were not able to accomplish was port numbering. It was just too difficult and costly. We were able to get the raised bosses around the intake bolts to give the flanges extra strength and that authentic look to the project. I have asked ECI to provide a few additional pictures of the intake port runners as well as the back of the intake. We had to carve out a section of the rear carb bowl to allow for the distributor to clear.

The only fitment pending issue is the throttle bracket location and configuration. We had to make on a lathe a custom part for the primary carb interconnecting progressive linkage. I wish this project was able to be reproduced but costs are just too high along with the investment risk, so I do offer to the group the opportunity to use my heads and work methodology to have a duplicate intake made at ECI if you are so bold...
I think you ment to say EIC Motorsports

That intake looks fantastic!
Closest to an original that I have ever seen.

Gilligan -

Yes, the current block in the car is the SR 428 block you sold me. Thanks to you as well~!

Brains -

Can you give me a close up shot of the carb linkage bracket if you have please marked in red? I have never seen a real quad intake and thanks so much for posting those two shots. Pretty close to what I imagined and how ironic it is that it's almost a dead ringer for a Ford tunnel port intake.

Interesting additional webbing between 3 and 5 runners. I wonder why they did that when the balance tube would suffice for support and flexing. I wanted to put in the mold release pads on the flanges, but this project is already out of hand and the money could be better spent on the throttle linkage challenges.

weird...

The boss just looks like the std. 4bl boss but taller and moved closer to the flange.

Only can speculate why the web is there? - Beswick used a few of them to convert to blower intakes, maybe he requested added strength? Maybe casting issues?

Awesome and thanks for taking the time to post the shots. This will give food for thought in how to address this last bit of difficulty. Does anyone know what the throttle bracket for this intake supposed to look like? I have the reproduction bracket for the single 4 barrel that Chuck created for his project along with various other brackets.

Interesting that the original Quad Intake appears to be a bit of a rough casting. I wonder what the back story is with that.

Most engineering D stuff was rough!Lots of the D stuff there was only a handfull made.My 303 blocks were very rough. The dual plane dual 4 V intake I had was very nice compared to the Xram 303 intakes I have owned.Tom

I don't have any knowledge or proof, but I believe the factory V quad intake - it appears the carbs are moved forward more about an inch relative to the Ford version. This may be the reason why the extra webbing is so between port 3 and 5. The mounting hole is floating out there and may be the reason why the extra webbing was done. It also looks like the balance tube is just ever so slightly shorter on the Pontiac version.

I'm still curious as to what the throttle bracket would look like. Any guess guys?

This link doesn't have a throttle bracket in it, but pics of the manifold.

You can for sure see the difference between the Pontiac and Ford intake with the link you have provided. Clearly the carbs are much more forward due to the distributor in the back.

The complete finalization of this project has stalled due to carb parts. I was hoping to finish up the top end so I can take beauty shots if this project to document it. The process of returning other parts shall begin soon and hopefully I can wrap this up before the end of the year so I can move onto the next phase of the project.

OK -

So I finally sourced the missing idle stop brackets, nuts and actuators so the linkage can get finished. We still have a pending purch mounting issue with the throttle linkage which I need to discuss with the builder.

I've been thinking about doing the short block now since the intake is made, but what to put it in is the question. I only have one car, but I could just swap out a sub frame full of drive line in about 2 days if I want to go that route. I got that down to a science at this point considering I had to do that twice already when a rear mail seal leak happened from the Vitton lip seal. Seems that doing that seal on a large journal block is less successful then on a small journal. I wound up putting in a GM asbestos rope seal and no leaks what so ever...

Early next year, I will start cutting parts to form the air cleaner base as well as take my extra sub frame and put a drive line on it to start mocking up the air cleaner height concerns/challenges I have. That will be the next huge step in this process since I don't dare to try and slam the hood down on an untested intake height question.

So now that the holidays are over, I have the time to focus once again on the winter project. I looks like we are going for optional carb set-ups to give more depth to the project.

As I start to take measurements, I'm finding that I think I can accomplish a lower ram air pan, but barely due to the limited space and large size of the coverage of said pan. Clearly the lower pan will take up from the firewall and all the way to the radiator fan shroud. To say the least, this thing is massive. I will start the process of cutting card board prototypes in a few weeks as well as thinking about how much work it will be to build a model mock-up front end for fitment checking. We shall see how that goes....

Thanks for the support. Lots of considerations needed to be resolved or accepted building this project. The crazy thing is that the meter is still running.
