Default Leap of faith

Sorry for the suspense, After a 2000 mile round trip to get my new toy...I'll try to hold back here as this isn't my usual way but you did ask. Some times in life you take a leap of faith well that's how I see this purchase. The car is 10 times what was advertised!! This car was the previous owners pride and joy since 1977 and he kept everything as original as possible. The paint has never had a touch up as far as I can tell and I've been all over it and it's near perfect! The interior looks like no one has ever sat in it. It seems it was used for some high speed jaunts between Georgia and Sarasota FL. for years which explains the mileage. Also why the aftermarket cruise control was installed and the lack of wear on the interior. The engine vin by all evidence appears to have been miss stamped at the factory I do believe the owner that it has never been out of the car nor ever been apart for that matter. I will sort this out with PHS. as soon as I can. Anyone can restore a car but this is how Pontiac built it and you cannot replicate that no matter how much you spend. Pix to come later!

There is another thread here someplace of that car getting found. It's close to me, real close!

Not that close - the car under the snow pile was a $250 85 IROC parts car.

I remember reading the CL add for that car. He spruced it up for the ebay add. The car was covered in brown surface rust in the original add.

Seems like a cool car, but if I bought it that column shift is going.

Crusty indeed but still a rare option. These oddballs must have been hard to sell for those Dealers unless a granny came in and liked the color combo

I've often wondered about these column shifted TA's if they simply weren't the result of an ordering dealership who screwed up by not checking off the option box for a console. Or did they simply assume that since a manual trans TA could be ordered w/o console and remain floor shifted, the same would be true for an A/T? Guess we'll never know for sure.
