Bull/Dave -
That is really sweet! I especially love all the natural light you're going to have. Good design and great use of space. cm

hey everyone,
here is my NONmobile restoration project... It's 40 x 60 with probably 15' high ceilings. It was built in the late '30s as a Nash service garage and dealer, then was a Pure station then an Enco until about 1965. Window panes were cut from Model T windshields (remember, this is depression-era construction, guys). My goal is to restore the office and exterior to 1950 specs with period correct Pure signage, pumps (nonfunctional), etc. The armada of '62s will reside on the street level and the basement will be for storage for parts or friends' cars. I already have hidden cameras installed both on premesis and on the neighbor's...I pay his cable TV bill, he lets me install cameras on his property so I can see the shop via the WWW whenever I want. Anyway this is going to impede car project progress, but all my life I have had AT BEST a 1 car garage.

Ok,so tell me......can a work in progress be considered for posting? After all my 65clone project has been on hold for many years now waiting for it's own home.So with a lil luck the complettion of my standing foundation you see before you will soo be the new home of my 65 and maybe with a side overhang and some spread gravel i'll can have extra room for storage of my bike during the summer months and a place to put the body panels and extra frame during the build.

a work in progress is my favorite entry at ANY car show...this is a "garage show" and you betcha yours is worthy!!
Bull, thanx for the kudos...the place is sorta nearby. I don't want to go into too many details where it is, and I am actually wondering if I should even post pix of the outside of the place considering it's a distinctive building... well, if you (or any true Pontiac person) drive past the place, stop in for a tour and a cold Blatz.

Matt, I understand your concerns. I learned long ago that the fewer people you trust, the better.

Matt, i'm a 100 miles north of you, and someday I would like to see it, you are going to have a super garage there.
I'm 65 and real picky about my beer, blatz isn't gonna get it, do you drink miller high life lite in the bottle. For a tour I would gladly bring the beer. Rob

...to quote an older Miller ad campaign.
sure, once I get the place sorted out, by all means, you'd be welcome to stop in and hang around for a while! ...actually, next Spring I may have an open house for the BB members who feel like paying a visit. Grilling brats, tipping a cold one and talking foolish...the whole bit.

Matt, way cool building and love the history. About the only thing that'd make it an even better find would be:
1. The building had formerly been a Pontiac dealer instead of Nash. 2. And you found the first floor to be stuffed to the rafters full of NOS Pontiac parts. Thanks for sharing, that is one unique location.

That's cool, an old building.
I was thinking about getting an old gas station right on Route 66, but even here, prices are way out of hand. George

A great restoration project with alot of history attached. Better get your equipment in there before it gets designated as a historic monument and you won't be able to make any changes! Good luck- Kurt |

thanks for the feedback, Paul and George.
Kurt, I hope the people in town appreciate the restoration of the outside of the building, and take a more active role watching out for vandals and thieves when I am not there... To me, it sure beats turning it into a video rental place or something else that'd ruin its character...plus I can work on my stuff without making the garage at home a disaster (which I have been good at in the past)...

Here is where I keep all my junk. It is a 40' x 80' building that I built this spring and still need to organize. Hopefully, I will have it usable by winter.

Holy crow! Now THAT'S big! 3200 sf? Looks like maybe stairs too? Bigger than most people's homes!
Hey, is that a UFO flying up above in the first shot? In my town, they use helicopters to nail residents for zoning violations! Of course, you could see this garage from the moon!

adamisadam, good eye! I think that is a delta-wing fighter, or maybe a P2V Harpoon!
guthriesmith, what company did you go with (if not built by hand)? if it is an off the shelf design, what model is it? I am doing some price comparisons to justify what to spend on my shop. triathlonx13, thanks for the reply...time and politicians are the worst enemy to diamonds-in-the-rough like this. If you're visiting Milwaukee, let me know and I'll give you a tour.
