X2!

Seems we've seen that car somewhere here before . . .

IIRC, it's a gennie SD A/C auto that had a stick conversion done to it?

now i basically don't mind red seats with a black interior, audi's pull it off magnificently, just as some toyota(or lexus) sportycars, bmw, but this looks friggin horrible!

surprised there is no floor mats with flames in there

Yes it was. Personally I can't stand the red/black combo. Brew, we saw this one when we went there a few years ago.

Was that the time Dick and Bob joined us at Volo?
IIRC, at that viewing, is had a Chebby carb on it too!
I remember those poorly recovered seats as well (lots of wrinkels).
That must of been 5 or 6 years ago............ seems like last year....Time flies...

You mean the one on the drivers door?
I don't remember that issue, but I do remember after 3-5 minutes after looking over the car I was done and had no further interest. Too many issues, in my book, to look more. Done.

Default SD 455 TA:

I know this may be in the wrong year, but what is a 1974 white, red/white, auto, a/c loaded SD TA that needs some work done to it worth? Here's the kicker....... it also came from the factory with a white vinyl top. It is a complete numbers matching car and is a dry southern car too. Any input would be appreciated.

White with white top?

That's what Critter needs to match his blue top SD TA.

Default To restore or not

Hello SD owners

I recently purchased a survivor 73 SD and was thinking about removing the motor and tranny for resto..Since I have not restored a unibody car like this was just wondering if it would be safe or possible to drop the front frame/engine and tranny in one piece?
Just starting some resto research.. also any one know of sources for NOS or good original parts. NOS steering wheel would be first on list??

Thanks for any help
Rick

If this car is truly a survivor I would think long and hard before beginning a restoration. A car is only original once. Everybody is different, but I like survivor cars over restored cars.

Default It is a true survivor

The decision is not easy, but motor freshing will benefit this car...

Its only original once and one should think long and hard before turning a bolt.
Good luck on the steering wheel and plan on restoring it or buying one thats been restored. Finding a nos one is not going to happen even for a blind squirrel.

Post some pictures for us to view and discuss!

Congrats on your purchase. Was this the one on ebay? If so, very nice original car! If the engine and compartment do not look way scaly, leave it alone and just detail the S*#t out of it. How bout pics?

Default 73 SD

Yes it was the car on ebay and it was pretty nice, not seen this dry a car in years and suprise it had the original plates from 73 Arizona in the trunk when I got the car......It had moved from Arizona in 80 to California where it just sat undriven in a garage.

Does the engine actually need internal work? Is it smoking, making angry noises, etc.? If not, leave it as is. That particluar car is a time machine.

If you want shiny and new, I'd be happy to trade you my 72 T/A! :-)
