Eh, the same people that are going "zomg Chevy engine, blasphemy!" would just be going "zomg V6, blasphemy!" I don't think there's much getting around that.

Besides the fact that the price of gas has dropped by $.25 per gallon recently, the '04 GTO gets 29 MPG on the highway with the V8. Which is even better than the 6 cylinder Mustang gets, BTW...
People buying GTO's don't want a 6 cylinder. They like the performance, sound, and driveability of that V8.
They aren't like the Mustang buyer that wants a cheap economy car. Of course, Mustang buyers aren't knowledgeable enough to realize that the GTO is more economical to actually drive in the first place...
Two engine options - not needed for a GTO buyer. But for you, we'll let you pretend the V6 Sunfire is a GTO so you can get a V6. It probably has more power than you can handle anyway...

How much is this war costing us again? And has the final bill been tallied ? And who is going foot the bill? But it doesn't really matter, given the direction Beavis and LutzHead are taking the GTO and the immense popularity of the 04/05 GM Monaro there will be no GTO in 2007.

Are those's Pontiac's in the foreground with those rally II's and Snowflake wheels? No they are classic Monaro's.
Pontiac and Holden have alot in common it seems.
I wonder if Aussie's bitched when the new Monaro did not look like the old Monaro? I doubt it.
Those are pretty cools cars.

That is by far the stupidest post I've seen on this forum, what the hell does the GOAT have to do with Bush's stupidity of going to war? God the only butthead here is you.

Absolutely nothing. I was illustrating absurdety with absurdety. Champ and others like him constantly whine that all people do on this forum is "bash" the 2004 GTO. So, I submitted a few posts that were in no way derogatory, but suggested that Pontiac should consider retro styling and 2 engine options if they want to save the GTO. No matter what one says on this forum, unless you are totally behind GMs current attempt to revive the GTO then you know nothing about cars, you're an idiot, a troll, blah, blah, blah. Even the fact I've got a GTO which I've kept all factory right down to the lugnuts and it still runs well after 34 years and 278,000 miles apparantly unless you've got some sort of award that doesn't qualify you as a "car guy". According to Champ and others, I've got a beater, etc. If I was an 04 owner, I'd be heralded for keeping it in such an unmolested state. BTW Champ: Name me 1 post where I bagged on your 64, the Camaro, or your Caddy????

To red70goat (aka whatza monaro): Until the V6 comment I gave you at least the benefit of the doubt. I didn't constantly call you a troll or imply that you had any unusual relationship with your mother like others on this forum did. However, there is no TRUE muscle car guy that can support you on the "torqin' 6" comment. For example: In the 70's and 80's Porsche dominated racing with some extremely powerful 6s but they don't belong in a Pontiac GTO.
Go try to convince GM to put a "torqin' 6" in the Vette. At least there is some precendent there considering the '53-'54 (even though its still a bad idea).
No Pontiac GTO ever built had less than a 350 V8. My '04 is a GTO and Champ's '64 is a GTO. If Pontiac ever puts a 6 cylinder in a car and badges it as a GTO, I will be the first to say that its not a GTO.

Think you're better? You're constantly bashing a car that they obviously appreciate and own, why can't anyone respect that. Find new valuable arguements other then all the ones we've already heard, it's getting extremely old and repetitive, you can't satisfy everyone, that's just how life is.

a performance minded person looking to buy a GTO with a V6 in it ? are you serious ? is there such a thing as a "torquin" V6 ? yeah lets put a V6 in there and boost it. that sounds origional. every import and some domestics that want to be like imports are doing this. c'mon man maybe you should consider a import if you want a 6. lets add a 12" exhaust tip while were at it. then it will really look/sound like a GTO.

First of all, I took your original post, stayed on topic, and showed you were wrong. You wanted two engine choices for the "money conscious performance minded consumer".
What you failed to realize is that a smaller engine is not always more economical. The '05 lighter Mustang with a V6 gets worse gas mileage than the '04 GTO with the V8. That's a fact that you ignored.
What you did do is go on a diatribe that had absolutely nothing to do with anything. Typical of your responses when you know you are wrong - change the subject.
Second, I don't consider you a car guy mostly because of the posting you do. A car guy would understand simple basics. A car guy would drive their GTO, something you have admitted you have rarely done in recent history.
You say the car needs a $40,000.00 makeover, and use that as an excuse not to drive it. You say it runs well, well then drive it if it does.
Third, who cares about winning an award. Yes, I've received a few, but I get much more enjoyment driving my vehicles than winning an award.
Yeah, I won some awards in 2001 at the GTOAA and POCI Nationals, but I am more proud of the fact that it was the only car in the country that was at the Iola Old Car Show featuring the 75th Anniversy of Pontiac, the GTOAA Nationals, the Jim Wangers All Pontiac Drags, and the POCI Nationals that year.
Unlike some attendees at these shows, I drove the car to all four events and ran it on the strip.
Fourth, you say you haven't "bagged" on my cars. Well, when you called my Caddy a Lincoln, I consider that an insult.

>>>>1) I would never compare a modern day GTO (when Pontiac gets around to making one) to a Mustang as you frequently do. They are not in the same class. A fact you frequently ignore.
" A car guy would drive their GTO, something you have admitted you have rarely done in recent history."
>>> When my 70 is ready to go it will be driven on a nearly daily basis, except in winter. I will not drive it until then. At 278,000 miles I do not want to put any more wear and tear on it until the "restoration" is done. The road salt here chews up older cars like candy. HoweverI will forward your comments to my neighbor though. I'm sure he'll be shocked to know he's not a car guy. He has a 1970 Hemi Challenger, ( featured in Car Craft in the late '80s ) a 1969 Hemi Charger that gets into the 12's on a regular basis and a 66 Barricuda. Is a member of the NHOA, was a consulting engineeer with Carrol Shelby on the original plans for the Viper. But given that he's "retired" his well worn Challenger because he wants to restore it and not let the elements around here chew it up I guess he's not a "car guy" like you.
You say the car needs a $40,000.00 makeover,
>>> Given estimates on this forum and others I've been told 20k...then double it.
"Fourth, you say you haven't "bagged" on my cars. Well, when you called my Caddy a Lincoln, I consider that an insult. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>"
>>> Not intentional, but I'll give you that one. Caddy Limo...Lincoln...whatever. Like I said before, the only web page I looked at of yours was the '64. I knew you had a Chevy and something that had an "L" in it. As far as your awards: From what I've seen of your '64 any award recieved was certainly well deserved. That doesn't make you any more of an expert or a "car guy" than the rest of us. Info. on production, etc. is easily found on Musclecarclub.com or any other number of websites.I know plenty of rich pricks who pay somebody 40-50k to restore a musclecar. Possession doesn't make them experts. I happen to be one of those rich pricks who will be throwing 40k or so at somebody to restore my Goat. When that happens, I will not be heralding myself as any more of a car guy or expert than the guy who takes pride in his clean '71 LeMans or whatever it may be.

1) I never said I wanted a 6. I said if GM wants to save the GTO then they should consider retro styling with 2 engine options including a toquin' V-6. I wanted to see what kind of reaction I would get from the Monaro Glee Club Elite by submitting a post that was not critical of the GM Monaro. Once again they showed their true colors.
2) If I wanted an import I would have bought a GM Monaro.

For the record:
1) I voted for Bush.
2) That's a matter of record. If you want to send me a private e-mail I'll tell you where you can look it up.
2) This country got attacked. I am in full support of annihilating the motherf*****rs who did it.
3) Our troops should get all the support they need in terms of $, weapons, armour, etc. regardless of cost.
4) Rush Limbaugh listener from 10-1pm on AM570, SLC, Utah.
5) I'm so far to the right I would make you look like a Jane Fonda supporter.
6) At some point we are going to have pay the bill. Gas prices will rise. That's a small price to pay for the cost of freedom. Thus my support as an option, NOT mandate for high power, fuel efficient engines, regardless of c.i., in the cars we drive.
7) Please tell me how that would make me a Kerry supporter??????????

To each his own opinion about war, I wasnt comparing going to war to the GTO though, keep that in mind before yapping your mouth.
