The hurst wheels are back from the polishers. They came out quite nice. There isn't much more to do now to wrap it up.

Your first post on this was oct.22.
your shop did a lot of work and a great looking job in less than 5 mos. I, too, want to see the finished product. david |

Yes, they did excellent work. I would certainly recommend them. The time would have been nearly a month shorter, but the blown shock, and hurst wheels held up the final product by at least 3 weeks.

Here are a couple of pictures of the hurst wheels. The first bare wheel is before the sides of the spokes are painted aluminum. I use this method on Hurst wheels because it is easier to keep them up without having to clean all the cast aluminum areas.
The second picture shows them mounted up with the Diamondback redline tires. In this case the tire I selected is the Firestone Firehawk which has slightly different dimensions than the stock tire. |

The trim rings attached with the hurst trim ring clips. This is a reproduction that I had done myself a few years ago using an nos original as an example.
I considered painting the drums red, but I think I will leave them as is for now. |

IMO I wouldn't paint the drums red. Just thinking of that brings flashbacks of cars in the 70's with mag wheel and the flourescent orange drums...aack!!!
BTW that is an awsome job that you had done on that car. It has been interesting to see the pics of the progress.

Well, I went to pick the car up today. I should have been a lot happier than I was, but I had just received a call that one of my workers that was out of the country working had not taken his permanent resident papers with him to get back here, and since he was not a US citizen, there was a lot of problems with Homeland Security.
But back to the task at hand. Now I should mention that I have not driven a stick shift in a few years. I had 533 BMW, and used a Mazda pickup that had a 5 speed, but these were not a good comparison. It started right up, and I was out of the compound with not even a second thought to the manual steering. The access road to the main street has a bit of an incline, and today the traffic going in both directions was particulary heavy. I held the car on the incline for at least 1 minute, with a Ford Expedition so close behind, that I could not roll back at all. Down the road I went. This was a new car, and didn't resemble anything that I owned in 1980. Shifter was smooth like butter, Steering was tight, compartment was quiet. Exhaust had rumble, but were not obnoxious. I got to an open stretch, and took it up to 5000 in second. the shift to third broke both rear tires loose for an instant. That was good fun. I opened up the tripower a couple more times just for the fun of it. Now the odometer says 00014. Here are some pictures as promised. I have to go out and drive this car around some more!!! |

Here are a couple more. I'll take some more of the interior. The shadows were causing a problem.
If you ever thought about restoring a Pontiac, you could not go wrong with Florida Pontiac. This was a first class restoration that did not break the bank. I'm not going to tell you it was inexpensive, and I could have reduced the task to make it even less expensive, but frankly there really isn't much more that I could have done on this car to add to the cost. |

Andre, great looking job!!! I can't wait to see it in person. I may be in your neighborhood later this spring. I'll let you know what my plans are as they develop.
Tiger Gold is definately more yellow-shade than Signet Gold. |
