Ron, I had the same issue with the throttle cable. Turns out I had tightened the bolt on the intake manifold bracket just a little too much. That was causing the cable to bind. I loosened up on it and the problem disappeared. It had me wishing I had never taken the thing off in the first place.

8 Days 'til Dayton. Really good day today. Loaded the car into my new (to me) trailer for the first time. I installed an electric winch and marine battery in the front of the interior. I've never loaded one this way before. Wow, way nicer than driving it in.

I played with the the throttle cable a little more yesterday. I found that twisting it 180 degrees from its natural position in the intake bracket helped smooth it out. It was pretty good today. We'll see.

Off to the alignment rack in the morning.

Great idea regarding the throttle cable and bracket tension. Mine been sticking a bit too.

I don't understand why the '64's are so prone to the throttle sticking. I've spent many hours with my GTO and my wife's eliminating the problem. I've tried to help many posters on this board with the same problem. Nearly all with the problem are '64 GTO's. One of life's mysteries, I guess.

7 Days 'til Dayton. Alignment is done and it's back home in my shop for final primping. Today, the throttle, choke and idle all worked well. The electric choke from Mike Wasson I put on seems great. And I'm learning how to start this tripower better. If its stone cold, mash it to the floor once and start it. I did that this morning and it went right to 2000 rpm and sat there, perfect. If its even remotely warm, do not touch the gas. I did this after the hour long trip to the alignment shop. Started right up and needed a minute to build some temperature before it wanted to move, then it's fine. I'm learning.

Thanks for following the build Greg, through the good, the bad, and the ugly. It's been quite a trip.

I wouldn't use Little GTO, but I did think about using GeeTO Tiger! The song I used just kind of jumped out at me while searching through the media on my phone.

By the way, is your 68 wearing Meridian yet? My 68 is going back to Meridian someday.

Nope. Ever since I decided to turn it over to someone else to do the painting, I've decided to be patient and let him do it at his leisure..(It's cheaper that way). Hopefully, before fall it'll be painted.

4 hours in the line for tech, that's ridiculous. The photographer should take 5 min, tops. He needs a picture matched to an entry number for the awards ceremony. That's it. Any rain there today?

I'm 20 minutes north of there Ron (you already knew that) and it did rain here off and on a couple times.

Thanks Dave. We're having our third torrential downpour of the day at my home. Glad I got the car loaded early today. If I'm in line for four hours tomorrow, my patience might wear thin. Looks like the weather after the front goes through tomorrow will be great for the rest of the week.
