Goatless here on the board is running mid 12's consistently through log manifolds in his 69 LeMans convertible - the exhaust should be fine if you're willing to put a test pipe in place of the converter or at least hog it out.

Yeah sure; but I read on the Internet that those "logs wouldn't work"..."and they can't put anything on the Internet that isn't true!" Bonjour!

I'm not sure whether to say "no" or "kiss my butt". It kind of depends on whether you're being serious or being an instigator. I'll just say no, but if you want to have a metal stamp made up I'll give it a shot.

If he did do that, they would think it's NOS, not a clean original.

[QUOTE=Bentwheelbob;5256473]The Delco Freedom battery project is finished and it looks pretty sweet. I can't think of much I would change if I did it again and that's always a good thing. Burd of United Fbody had these pieces manufactured. He will be at the TA Nats with a booth and I think will have a few sets to sell. Here's the finished pictures. Right below is the original post and pictures of the parts before "assembly".
![]() I can't put my finger on it but I had one of these in my T/A in the late 70's and someting just dosen't look right to me here....... |

I've been outed....I was hoping that nobody would notice, but I won the dumba_s award on this one. I put the battery together backwards the first time and have since fixed it. I sent the guy (Burd) I got the parts from pictures of the finished battery and two days later he had the same reaction - there's something not right. It turns out that I put the caps and everything else on 180 degrees off. Fortunately I attached everything with a few dabs of silicone and was able to reverse it.
Thanks for keeping me on my toes. |

Craig - I'm sorry to hear that you seem to be falling apart. You've got to quit drinking all that beer and start drinking something stronger...I'll let Dave know you're gunning for his job. In all seriousness, I hope you are getting better and that neither problem was anything serious.
On the battery, there is lack of consensus on whether Freedom II or Freedom is correct for a '78. The general belief seems to be that Freedom is correct. Burd only has the Freedom II decals which were accepted as correct at the time of printing. The guy who printed them has since gone out of business and I don't think a source has been found to print the Freedom decals at a reasonable cost. Maybe Roger will weigh in with more definitive comments. Get well. Bob |

We have the decals done for both now, I put freedom in my Y88, I sold the freedomII set that I originally had in my car fir the Dream Cruise. GM Heritage says freedom for 78, someone said the II for the W72 engine, it doesn't say that in the Freedom manual, not sure your call, but they do look good, I used off white, and you can see in the pis it looks close to the washer bottle.

My old '78 W72, from what I remember, had the Freedom II. It was made in April. Option UA1.

If you go on YouTube and look at the videos on the Freedom battery commercials, it looks like the II was 79-80. I also don't get it that GM Heritage says the freedom was the battery for 78's too. We may never know.
