I will have one on the way to you soon. Any suggestions for a pressure plate and clutch?

If you want to go the dual disk way, the McLeod dual disk clutch is a nice unit. Otherwise I have been out of the clutch world for a while so I don't know what else to recommend. I was impressed with the McLeod unit though.

Ah come on Greg, you only need to sell some or many of those nice parts you have stashed away. Keep the best for your Grandmas car!
I've enjoyed reading the technical aspects of rebuilding this engine. Learning lots. Keep up the good work! |

Here are some more pics.
Pic one shows how centered the rod is in the piston. Other pics showing the T-chain alignment. I always check it for alignment. They will wear out extremely fast if not in alignment.

Here is what bolts look like if you just wire wheel them.

Here is what they look like if you glass bead blast them first, then wire wheel them. This is how I like to restore bolts.

Paul,
What pickup are you using on the oil pump and what are the advantages over the stock Melling pickup?

Got the engine wrapped up and in the shipping crate. Need to get a ratchet strap tomorrow to strap the front of the engine down.

Got the pressure plate balanced, but unfortunately, forgot to get pictures of it. I had to bolt it on and off the flywheel in different positions to get it to a position where it was the closest to being balanced and where it had the least amount of runout. One position had it spinning damn near perfectly true. Had to remove about 8 grams from it. Now it's less than a gram out.
I marked the flywheel and the pressure plate and intermediate disk[two disk clutch] with a dykem stripe and an "X". X marks the spot. Just line them all up and go.

I unpacked and got on my stand but did not unwrap to take any photos as I don't want any dust getting in it.
Paul sent all my stickers, instructions, receipts from drop shipped items and even sent a hat I got from Summit. Also sent a detailed blue print of the work done. Next step is to get order some lifters, bolt on the heads and measure for push rods. Need to order some rockers also. Can't wait to get this engine buttoned up.
