More CFM is far from always better!

Velocity is an extremely important consideration.
Agree about balancing factors in the combination.

290's is enough for 10's, i went 11.50@117 in 4550 lbs... Ernie will do it!

I'm going to try and do it the hard way first! In decent air it would have went 11.1's..thats getting pretty close...and I've never expected to run 121/122...just the matter of getting to the track more..the 60's will come down a bit thinking 1.60's,still not leaving as clean and hard as it can.,testing this annular main body next..I have a small list of things to do this year..hopefully everything can get tested.

More cfm may not be beneficial if the cam is too small for the head flow.

Has anyone tested this combo with a well adjusted q-jet?
If so what intake?

And, Ernie what size headers?

Andy (Torquewar) has a similar combo with a RPM and a Q-Jet. His last post here was post #195, there are several before that. All good reading!

Don't know if it has been mentioned, but MPH will always be high when spinning off the line.

I have been running a Q Jet and a self ported RPM.
My best MPH is 122.3 with a 11:44 and spinning for 3-4 ft limited traction.
Car has always ran flawless on the street and track.
Have a T-2 and a Shaker(Jeff)) 455 4150 to bolt on very shortly.
Im also trying to get the 60ft s down but im eager to see what the intake combo will do.

Over the last 2 years Andy's car has always had a faster mph than my car with his quadrajet setup which is quite impressive!Up until this year I've only ran 120 once with a tailwind..

It will definitely make more power!
And you will lose a little power before 3500-4000 with the T2 but that might help your car hook!
Its Very Difficult getting near 600lb ft or torque and 550hp to hook out of the hole!!
Ernies Car Would Pick up from a head swap especially if he had Dave do the 305 package on his heads, that plus bumping up the compression from 10.2:1 to at least 11.00:1, But on a combo like his you almost never want to trade low end power for top end power, there is a couple things you can do but not a whole lot with out moving the power higher in the RPM Range.
I want to do a 501 or 523" cid engine with similar parts to see if i can get my
Land Barge into the 10's, it wont be easy!

I run a 350 because I've had decent luck..I've had one go a few years ago due to driver error, the last one held up pretty good no real issues..the current one is a Hughes with a low gear set. Also the 350's eat up a little less power,I can use the same crossmember and stock location, same driveshaft..

I'm running the T-350 because it came with the IA motor. It is a mystery trans because I got no information on it when I bought the car. It came with JW ultrabell, and was running low 10's, so I assume it was very well built. So far it has been flawless. I will be installing a cheater nitrous kit soon, so I am going to swap to a T-400. Trolling the web, it appears 800hp is the max the T350 is recommended for. I don't want to hurt it or the converter. The T400 may hurt ET a little, but I need the strength. May put the T350 up for sale here soon.

Its a crap shoot with transmissions, big torque and sticky tires will make u find the weak link. Sometimes its assembly or part failure.

My th 350 broke(carnage) one Friday night. Cant remember if Ernie was there? Sucks being on a flat bed with everyone watching.
After the 140 tow bill i re evaluated . Went to the 400...

I ordered a set of 3:73 gears yesterday. Still thinking about sending them back for a set of 4:10s. 3:08 doesn't cut the cake.
