Whoa, whoa, whoa... You're being way to critical here. That photo was taken before the DOHC conversion kit was added from Ronco. I don't know if you guys remember but back in the late '70's and early '80's Ronco had a DOHC kit that you could get a coupon for off the back of any Leif Garrett album sold by K-tel or in the back of most Marvell comics and of course Cracker Jacks. You had to send in 500 coupons and proof of purchase and a three page hand written letter saying why you loved Pontiac and wait 12 to 18 weeks and it would arrive at your door. They ran out and had to give people waterbeds near the end. Most don't remember that.

Default Was running but not right now.

Well... There you have it, "Was running but not right now. Great project car!" Perfect! I have no doubt that this would be a project. I always like it when they was running! I wonder if they mean it wasn't running at the time the photo was taken which would have been right now at the time but is was then now. Whoa, I'm getting lost. I think it's safe to say that at some time between 1957 and now it was running and may or may not be running when you get there. At $2,000 dollars I bet I can part it out for a hundred bucks and still sell the rest for scrap at a loss. Not bad!

At $8K I would think that after stuffing $30k into it you'll only come out $10k in the whole.

But the fact that it is a '57 Star Chief Bonneville makes it worth every penny.

That's just one of the benefits of being parked for twenty years in the Oregon rain forrest.

Title issues, CL scam, or rebuilder Death perhaps? Agree looks to be a solid car from the little shown...

Probably Title Issues, Quite a few stolen cars were converted into 1/4 milers in the 70's and 80's. I agree thatlookslike a solid car.

That would be my assessment. He isn't even selling it as a drag car probably showing that he doesn't want to chance anyone applying for a title.

"1976 trans am west coast barb find..."
I suppose he is sharp to point it out.

"engine runs on gas"
That's a handy feature when travelling on roads.

"just in from oregon, body is 99% rust free..."
I don't live there so I'll ask: Is Oregon known for its dry climate?

I miss the days when I was able to pick these cars up in this condition for a few hundred bucks!

East of the Cascade indeed it is. Not Mojave dry but not far.

Ever since I moved to the area and started watching craigslist, there are a LOT of these failed projects for sale. It's kind of odd.

HAHAHAHA

Might as well include a sign saying "does not work" in the picture or a closeup of the hydraulic fluid leaking out

This is actually an interesting car for someone looking for a project, a 428 with a 3-spd manual, interesting combo.
