There were a lot of American cars assembled in Europe during the 50 - and 60:s. Antwerpen is only one of the plants. I think it was taxes and Import/export rules that forced this.

There is a guy in the UK on the FGF email list who owns a 69 Firebird Sprint coupe built at Antwerp, VIN code "X". I think he said it's the third one he's owned, but I think the others were 68s. Andy is his first name, cannot recall the last name.

When he popped onto the list a few months back it was the first one I had heard of. Check out that Camaro link - it's about the building of Camaros in the Phillipines, but mentions GM Continental in Antwerp Belgium.

according to my friend Andy here in Houston ,there is one of those Antwerp Firebirds in Vegas too, the guy who had it in Europe brought it back here...I think he said it was a golsd car, supposedly in very good condition.....

Not sure who this belongs to. But I like the overall look. This is similar to what I had planned for my 67 vert. Only no hood bird, using a "Dude Scoop in a glass 69 T/A hood, and 69 T/A rear wing. Two tone blue and silver. HOpe to be finished this summer.

that 68 Trans AM Clone L@@KS awesome- its actually a mix of the 2 styles of car that I like the best. I just bought a 68 rag top thats in decent shape and may do that project also.

17x8x4.75in backspacing with 225/45s front and 18x10x6in backspacing with 275/40s rear...no rubbing rear (it's REALLY close) and clears the ends of my rack with 2inch drop spindles (with stock height springs) by about 1/2 inch. The front drop lowered the ends of the steering arms to sidewall height. Any more backspacing on the front would move the tires in and rub the balljoints. Rear drop is Hotchkis leafs (1 1/2) and 1 inch blocks for a total of 2 and 1/2. Lots of trial and error....namely the switch to a 12-bolt necessitated adding 1/2 inch spacers to the rear axle to compensate for the 1 inch shorter housing of the 12 over the original 10-bolt that was there when I first set everything up.

Attached are pictures of my 69 convertible bird. As you can see it went through a bit of a transformation. I did the interior and some of the body work but had panel alignment and paint done by a professional shop. It is not a show car by any means but then I find I can't just pump gas at the station without a conversation starting about it. It was an auto but I recently changed it to a 4 spd. It is much more fun to drive now. It sat in the drive way multicoloured while I did the work on it. The neighbours are so glad it has been painted as their property values have gone back up. I want to thank everyone that answered all my questions on the forum while I was completing the car.
