I DID SAY CLOSE ENOUGH!!..I DO HAVE ORIGINAL PAINT IN MAJOR AREAS BUT EVEN I CANNOT TELL!!...I JUST HOPED THERE IS A CAN OUT THERE AGAIN CLOSE ENOUGH THAT OTHERS USE..IT MUST GET COMPLICATED/FRUSTRATING ON A FULL BLOWN RESTO WHEN EVERYTHING IS REPAINTED BY GUN...I WAS WONDERING HOW MANY BLACKS ARE USED AND WHICH ARE THE SAME/DIFFERANT..I WILL GET A CAN OF THAT(RATTLE I HOPE)..ANY RECOMMENDED SELLERS??..THANKX!...ON THE OTHER HAND..POPPING THE HOOD TO SEE A BEAUTIFUL ENGINE PAINT & FENDER WELLS IS O.K. IN MY BOOK...20 ODD YEARS AGO I CONSIDERED PULLING THE INNER WHEEL WELLS AND GETTING THEM PAINTED AS I WANTED THEM TO LOOK GOOD AGAINST THE NEW FENDERS..BUT I WAS AFRAID OF LOSING ANY ORIGINAL FACTORY FITTMENT...BUT THEN I STARTED LOOKING FOR N.O.S IN 1990...COULD NOT FIND THEM AS THAT WAS WHAT I WANTED..NOW 24 YEARS LATER I AM GLAD I NEVER MESSED WITH THEM!!

THANKS!!...RIDERS ON THE STORM..you know last nite that gas station scene did strike me as the best part..except for everyone elses hair..he could fit into any 1960 & up generation..when the Shelby pulls out, very cool...you can see the inside chrome outside vent extractors..I always liked those years..very T/A gimmicky..I wanted a 23k mile $4500 65 white/blue stripe 350 gt as my first car...was shot down as its a FORD...I would be retired and a couple of T/As if they could only see the future as I saw it..

Nice score...
I've saw a couple of those lately on the ePay still in the unopened rip cord boxes, but they were above my pay grade. I've been buying some really clean and relatively well preserved as far as wear was concerned later model switches with a good arrow (>) and clean ON stenciling. Then I buy some really old ugly switches that had a well preserved button that had the W A S H on it. I just removed the much sought after wash button and popped it on the nice switch that had the P U S H button it.... If you have a complete original #'s car, I think you are spending wisely. I was told to spend it on what shows, not on what doesn't or gets covered up or painted. I wish I had met him 10 years earlier. I used to be that guy that had a 15,000 dollar car, spent 7500 on it and then had a 17,000 dollar car. I finally learned to stick with as much good used original parts as can be done and just the stuff everybody sees, including the judges, should be new and/or NOS. Some may disagree. That's okay. It works for me. PS...you got a great thread going here. I really enjoy looking at all the pics. As thorough as you are, your car is going to be magnificent when you finish. Keep it coming. Eddie

actually 24 years ago that switch bugged me...but the only button repoped is PUSH..plus the stencil is worn..when I saw new!..its all related to my dash/interior..I need it perfect..this switch is related to what I have going on with the dash project...I am have the engine turned dash re clear coated along with the 2 other pieces..in a few days I will post an over the top N.O.S. part that I still cannot believe I found!...and I am done!...no major parts or anything crazy that I am searching for..the T/A is complete..it has a 73 SR motor..its a numbers matching car, 58k miles, purchased 14 years from its build date from the original owner..it is what it is..new GM sheetmetal/no bondo...and as far as major options, the car is loaded..and I have a low initial investment..soon as this weather breaks it will be running and the interior looking quite different...paint is not the priority..the car running under its own power again is..and being able to listen to the radio!!

Looks killer less those dam rivets. The hardware is a great finishing touch and many dont bother to spend the time searching those items out.
Hats off! |

Gauges look really good Glenn. Just noticed on your Volts gauge, it almost looks like a alignment mark the needle is pointing to at rest. I just wonder if that what that is? Not really critical information, just an observation.

in 1972 FIREBIRDS interiors..standard & deluxe received a standard rear package shelf tray...only 1970 -71 ESPRIT & Deluxe interiors received the mesh...its a shame GM got cheap..the U.S. government did not help with emissions and safety laws..5mph bumper, gee thanks...anyway, I always save hardware...my rear speaker will be the best!!!
