Hello out there, end of May 2024. Am not on here often enough but, just spent some time going through the entire thread and wanted to add some-

1. on page 12 post #234 That is the GTO I bought in 1977 right before my senior year in HS and drove it 40,000mi until sold in Jan 1981. I was the second owner and still have pics from the 70s when I owned it and copies of the sticker. do not know where it is now. Have not seen it since the day I sold it in 1981.
Red/Black int, white stripes, no 'HO' on trunk lid. original paint- 40,000 miles in 1977. M-22, 3.31. I painted it myself in 1979, stripes were not avail to replace at that time.

2. page 13 post #256 -- that pic is of me in Jan 1981 in Tempe, Az at my parents home when I sold the car. I painted it 2 years prior. Before I sold it, My senior year of HS, I took auto body/paint so, have always painted my own cars. I reinstalled the M-22 and it had all of its original drive train at the time of the sale to a man in Tucson. Had just over 100,000 when I sold it. Bought new at Cain Buick- Pontiac Franklin Tn last # vin- 130269

3.page 15 post #300- Is a post of mine describing the 2 WW5s I have owned so, not wanting to be redundant- can be read there.
This summer, 2024 , marks 40 years of ownership to my WW5 GTO! It also has just over 500,000 miles on her and about 400,000 of them I have driven personally. It will be part of the Pontiac Heaven Museum project I am working on here in eastern Az. Visits to the property are avail if interested. Eventually, it will be parked next to my other 2 round port GTOs, a 71 455HO and a red 70 Ram Air IV.
Curious if anyone else has driven a Pontiac, lot along a factory round port or WW5 anywhere near 400,,000 miles? or owned this long?
I just love these cars.
This one was originally bought new at Bud Beck Pontiac in Scottsdale so, has lived its entire life here in Arizona though it has traveled/visited all over the US. Orignal color- Brintanny beige with white int. I converted it to Cardinal Red/Black as a tribute to my first WW5. Am thinking will return to white int when restored. I am the 3rd owner and only found it and became aware of it because I was driving my 71 GTO 455HO to a party one night. As I parked, a guy and his gal came up to me asking questions on the car. One of his questions was "It is really a 455HO?" I told him yes, it was an original 455HO GTO. After a few minutes, he said, "I Know these engines are hard to find parts for, I own one". Well, that was it- no more party, I wanted to see the 72 GTO 455HO! We ended up going to his home to see it. He repeatedly insisted it was not for sale but, I was determined. yes, I bought it that night and if I was not driving my 71 GTO 455HO he would have never likely approached me. Hoping this short story is welcomed.

Am curious now how many real WW5s have been documented? thanks

If it shows to have in-dash tach & gauges, formula steering wheel, pwr steer and pdb in their pictures - its primarily in the hunt.

Default WW5??

This one seemed hopeful but the owner confirmed the engine code is incorrect, the carb is incorrect and it has a 10-bolt rear with no sway bar. It does have an X in the VIN and the top end of the engine is HO. I suggested he invest in a PHS report.

Update, I was able to locate and talk to the current owner. This car is currently still alive and well in the Sacramento area.

Too bad they didn't have more to ID it, at least a VIN.
The cowl tag does narrow it some. (but not for it might be a WW5)

There is a car on the list that is close to that 09D.

So, can't tell if it is a new one or one already on list.
BVZ probably has better insight.

This is a 72 WW5 that I owned for a couple of years back in the early 90's. I got it for $11k with a rebuilt engine and it had the original drivetrain, including the M22 and 12 bolt with 3.55's and what a beast! It even had a car phone in it!

I'm not a big fan of red, but how many times do you drive by a small car lot and see one of these...I had to get it! After a while, I made my own Judge looking stripes, just to break up all that red.

I never kept my cars too long and this was no exception. I didn't have the room or $$ to keep it and get my next ride, so off it went to Pennsylvania. I don't know where it's ended up, but I'm sure it's in good hands.
