I mount mine on a bracket I made that attaches to the dash just to the right of the steering wheel. I use my pointer finger to push it. I had it on the steering wheel for a long time and it’s a pain turning the wheel with the cord wrapping around the steering column. You also have to be really careful not to bump the button after you launch or while driving in the pits. I had to install a lockout timer because I bumped it a couple times right after I launched. That’s not a good thing to do.

Mine is bolted to the back of the shifter where I can't accidentally activate it. I also have an arming switch that I leave off when street driving to assist in no accidental activation.
However usually at the first race of the year I forget to arm it and once staged I try to get up on the brake and away we go, lol.

With all the win lights you get, I'd say you have it in the right spot.

Well I moved the transbrake button to the RHS of the steering wheel...I ended up moving it back to the dash before my first run as those who said the cord gets in the way were correct, at least for me. May investigate moving it to the shifter next or just leave as is which is ok. I just thought closer would be better.

Thanks again for all your thoughts

Here is a picture of what I did, 1st trans button I ever used so I can't compare to other locations.

Thks RAIV-Z for the pic. I initially moved mine to a similar spot but with a pretty good size column tach in basically a 1 pm position and a stock column the cord gets in the way of trying to turn the car getting it on and off the trailer and moving it around in the pits even with a stretch cord.

Thats where mine was initially, in the radio on/off hole. I thought it would be better closer to me but the steering wheel wasnt too productive on my initial attempt so currently its back on the dash too. I do like Bob 66 setup which I may investigate further

I did not like it on the shifter because I had my hand on it and Immediately I would shift into 2nd gear.

I had one button on the shift handle and a single pole double throw switch on the console. Toggle in the back position was line lock and I could upshift easily through the gears with my thumb on the gearshift button, and then toss the switch forward for the trans brake. Easy to see the switch position too.

I agree with the above that only real trans killing procedure was catching traction in second gear. I start in first and quickly go second and third and come out in high gear. Cost me a sprag early on years ago ending the burnout in second. The friend that bought my car forgets to hit third and already on his third sprag.

To each his own and the friend ripped out all the upholstery and the console and went with one racing seat and a gate shifter with separate buttons on the steering wheel for line lock and trans brake.

Thats a creative way to use just one switch. I would probably forget to move the toggle. Thanks for the color on your burnout experience...so is he still your friend? lol
