I had my 69 T/A at a show and was told that they didn't make a T/A until 70.

Glad i wasn't thinking out loud at the time.

Ha Ha... it even had a vinyl top to make things worse - in my thoughts.
Could have really stuck both feet in my mouth that day.

was Wolfgang Feist's pristine Dk.Blue 74
That evening i got the details from a friend about its genuine pedigree.

Still around and pretty sure he still owns it John.

I think I first saw it in Holyoke/Springfield, MA sometime around 1990 or 91?

I've already had to explain this to people and my Judge isn't done yet. "They never made white Judges" I have already heard that about ten times now. I figure that I will hear that about 10,000 more times at shows and gatherings. It's not the same subject, but I suspect other Goat owners with a bench seat and column shifter can relate- I never get thru a show or cruise night without at least one expert informing me that my red '68 is a fake because we all know they never made GTOs with a bench seat and a shifter on the column.... You can even try to educate the experts on the 242 and they still can't grasp the concept.

I was fueling up my black 69 GTO several years back and some kid rolls up on a skateboard and stops to look at my car. First time out of his mouth is "I'm thinking LeMans" I laugh out loud and say "no it's a real GTO" and pointed out the differences between the two. He takes another look around and skates off saying nice car.

The fact that he would blurt that out with his first words took me by surprise. Some peoples kids....

I had my 72 HO convertible out in town shortly after I got it & was putting air in the tires at a station right off the highway when a guy comes walking quickly over to me and looking at the car says "GTO?". I said, "no, LeMans". Disappointed, he walked away.

Not a story about one of our Pontiacs, but I had my L79 Chevelle at a show. A guy was looking it over closely and nodding in approval. Then he saw the engine compartment and told his friend, "The guy did a great job restoring it and then ruined it by chroming all that stuff on the engine." I told him it came that way from the factory but I don't think he believed me....

In about a month (when my car gets out of the shop) I'll have the reverse problem.
My 69 non-Judge GTO is painted CR. It sports a spoiler, but no stripes or Judge badging of any kind.

I'm guessing there weren't many non Judge CR goats in 69?

I would have been impressed/pleased that a kid his age knew the difference between LeMans and GTO (even if he didn't really know the difference).

I always support the future of our hobby, especially since they could very well be future buyers (and hence, the future value of our hobby)

My '69 Chevelle SS396 is a bench seat column shift car with a 134 vin... I hear it with that one too... I need to quit buying oddball cars.

I also have been told that my 69 GTO is a fake Judge.
My 69 [ I added ] rear spoiler, RAMAIR set up and Hood Tac.
No ware on the car is it stripped or does it say JUDGE I tell people.
I just tell them you could get those parts back then.

Sounds like the kind of kid that would beat a hornet's nest with a stick for no good reason...

I don't think my survivor Judge has been accused of being a clone, although it has been mistaken for the Dukes of Hazzard and Dazed and Confused cars on many occasions.

Shortly after buying the car, I had it at a swap meet and was sitting nearby. A young woman was looking at the car and figured out that the lug nuts were incorrect (they were) and couldn't wait to find me to point that out. She found me and breathlessly (and proudly) announced that my lug nuts were incorrect, loud enough so that anyone within earshot could hear the results of her fine detective work. I told her I knew that, but thanks all the same. Strange.

If someone told me my car was fake, I would reply "no, it's a real car".
