Nice Find. Cool Story. With a little more luck you'll find that missing engine!
Now the hard work begins.

I wish I had that kind of luck, but it usually doesn't go that way for me. I am on the hunt for a WS block now. Since it won't be a numbers car, I may put a Tremec 5-speed in it so that I can drive it on the highway more confortably and I will just keep the original Muncie on the shelf.

I have attached a couple of pics that the brother of the Oklahoma owner sent me of the car sitting on their farm. It had sunk down into the dirt and had been sitting there for well over 20 years. He told me that his brother was driving the car one day when the engine started making noise. He drove it home, pulled the cylinder heads and then left it sit that way for a couple of decades.

The last name of the owner is Pigg (no joke). Address on OK title shows Oklahoma City.

I did, that is the one I bought. It is at the shop waiting to get the resto started.

Yes, it is a real one. The WS block was still good but thanks to the previous owner, it is now missing. It is likely in the St Louis area if it wasn't scrapped.

What does a car like that sell for if you don't mind me asking?

I have everything original to the car except for the block, fuel tank and correct starter. I bought a 902 alternator and one JW to round out the 5 I am supposed to have (came with 4, spare was missing). Under 8K without the other stuff I bought. Original 273 carb, M20, distributor, 4 JW's, functional shaker (71-72 style), intake, air cleaner and 12 bolt all came with it as well as the interior which is trashed.

Started actually working on the car last week. We removed the rest of the interior and pulled the steering column and brake booster. Today, we finished removing the rest of the wiring and front end sheet metal. The final project today was getting the sub frame removed from the body tub. Ended the day attempting to get the dolly attached to the front of the body tub so it can be moved around.

Well, it is at the shop and they have been slowly working on it. Told them I was not in a rush as I am out of space right at the moment. They have replaced the roof skin, upper cowl panel and patched the floor. I will post some pics.

My '72 Lucy/white interior TA purchase happened the same way. Previous owner went from 'I'm never going to sell this car' to getting a phone call one day out of the blue to 'come get it'.

The interior looked similar too, with many many parts stuffed in the car and trunk.

I even brought some gypsies back with me that weren't discovered until we started cleaning out the goodies in the car. Did your car have any non paying tenants?
How did you get the mice to Stay still and not run off?

Never tell a body shop you are not in a rush! That always results in body shop purgatory.

I would agree with you if it is a collision shop doing the work. A restoration shop has no excuses

Here are a couple of up to date photos of the '70 T/A. Trunk floor is being replaced. Quarter panel hung to check fitment.

Cool to see that this one is really getting saved!

Where are you at on sourcing a correct (or the original) block and/heads?
