OK...OK...
I don't want any grief for the multiple pictures posted of the same thing. I'm still trying to figure out how to do this. Brad |

A 72 455 HO car is a great find , I like the canyon copper color thats on it to. This is the closest thing to what a 72 would have been as if it were a judge. Have fun & remember it's a car made to have fun with so go out & drive it like you stole it & have a great time with it. Thas what it was made for. I've had 27 GTO's & 4 Firebirds & 1 73 T/A with only 64K original miles Along with my 73 GTO that I got new & have driven like it was designed for all this time now. But it is a little faster now as it goes mid 11's now & the best time with the original engine was 13.02 @ 106 mph, now 11.52 @ 127 mph. HAVE FUN.

I know the car, tried to buy it years ago from the original owner, meat cutter at QFC his name was Stan.
Had I known this was the actual car I would have been right along side of you trying to own this car real bad! My buddy was at this auction and was paying for his 71 TA he was ready to bid higher than your final price, missed it while signing up. Also know of the guy who had the motor I heard he wanted 3k for it. A friend of mine in Yakima, Mike Johnson knows him well. I have 4 Judges, a couple of 71's and a bunch of Pontiac junk and lots more old cars (too much) stop by and say hi, I am at 16004 Aurora Ave. North in Shoreline. Nortwest Legends local GTO club would love to have you join, Here's a link. http://www.northwestlegends.com/ Rich's Car Corner pict, of some the stuff. Nice score, my buddy said you stole it! Nice score and pix are sweet too. Fun car to drive and your wife like it too~ bonus!
I alway come here just to learn too. Like I always thought "three on a tree" was in reference to "DSL" doing the shifting as that what we did with autos back in the day. We shifted them maually for fun and when it was on the trunk it was "three on a tree" ? The manual on the tree was before my musclecar time.... BTW: AG isn't CC as the colors are close but different, not just a name change.

Congratulations - well bought!
IMHO these cars are WAY undervalued compared to other Pontiacs and most muscle cars in general. The 72 WW5 was the most expensive option EVER offered on a GTO and it's the best handling one they ever built. (04-06 excluded)

It's not that bad Mike - if you knew how to do it you could order everything except for the 15" wheels & the HD rear bar - which were never offered on a convertible. The bad thing is not too many did.

Welcome Brad! Great buy on a great car! Looks like you could use one of my exact 455-HO reproduction air cleaner decals. ---(shameless plug). Show us more of your car when you can, looks great.

I feel the same way the more I learn about these model years. Maybe the market will catch up someday. |

Hey Rich, I was going to go a bit further on the bidding but I'm glad it didn't come to that. I managed to contact the prior owner (through lots of help on the Northwest Legends Forum) and paid him for a pile of original equipment and documents so it's all back together now. I really wanted the 71 Trans Am but the bidding exceeded my number so I walked away. I still think that was a nice buy too. I've been to your place on Aurora before while looking at cars and you do have some great stuff. I'll see you at some of the local events. Brad |

Okay, now a couple specific questions:
1. Is part number 1112133 the proper unitized ignition for this car? 2. How likely is it that that production numbers exist for Anaconda Gold 1972 GTO's? I'm sure I'll have more as I go through this process of understanding. Thanks for the help, Brad |

Nice score - congrats! What was the story on the reason for the auction? Any back story there? Did someone die or was it just a bankruptcy sale?

AG was a popular color in 72. But, no known exact color breakdown by GTO. PB and or Lloyd have a good option breakdown. Not sure color is one.

Ok, thanks. I hadn't seen many AG colors in all of the photos I've looked at so I thought it may not have been popular. I saw a unitized ignition p/n 1112133 on eBay for $500 or so...yikes. |
