feedback is a tricky thing, as to being forced to leave certain feedback

on questionable auctions or problems that you have, it's hard to leave negative feedback
because you know they'll leave it for you, so it's sort of a no win situation

i've had quite a few dealings where i'd love to leave negative feedback, but i know he'll just make up something about me and leave it for me too

however, interestingly, your opportunity to leave feedback expires after a certain amount of days, 30, 60? - i forget
so if you wait until that last day, you can leave it and he probably won't be quick enough to get you back

as for private auctions, i see them a little differently
as someone who sells some stuff on there, i get pretty tired of dealing with the idiots on there....in a dozen different respects

if i put a big $ item on a regular auction, i get people who see something selling for a good bit of $ and sometimes they e-mail my bidders...offerring to sell the same or nicer for cheaper or more expensive
(i've had people i know bidding at times, and they've told me)

then, at the best..they cancel their bid after driving up my price and scaring away others
other times, they just refuse to pay and threaten negative feedback to me, if i leave it to them

although, i'll agree
seems shady for Gary's...when he's supposedly offering parts that are show quality - shouldn't have anything to hide and should want his reputation getting distributed

Much to my own disblief, I purchased a set of seat belts from garysgto goodies on e-bay. When I went to pay it dawned on me he only took money orders (strange if you purchase direct he will take credit cards)and thats my fault had the head in a** syndrome. I e-mailed them and advised I would be more than happy to pay with credit card, that I would not pay with money order (that leaves me no protection). Ofcourse I got all the bs of should not have bid if could not accept auction terms and threatened to leave negative feed back on me. Well that pi**ed me off and I e-mailed him and told him- leave your negative feed back, one negative score would not hurt me, I can life without e-bay and his products, also told him that from other sources (PY forums) I knew his reputation and I could leave more damanging feed back tahn he could. Well guess what-- he replied he would leave no feedback on me, that I should read payment information better the next time. I realize this problem was my fault for 1) dealing with him and 2) not reading all the terms. My point is that if you get in a bad situation with any seller, stand up for yourself and do not be intimidated by their threats.

I like that strategy. Been very fortunate on eBay, so far. If we can "sharp shoot/sniper" a bid at the final seconds of an auction, feedback should be able to get snipered in the last minutes or seconds too.

You have 90 days to leave feedback. It starts when the auction ends, so if you want to wait, you can. I tried to do it once, but forgot one of the 3 months had 31 days, so I missed out.

i did win an auction on ebay from gary's. i did recieve the parts without incident and well wrapped. my complaint would be the shipping and handling charges. more than the parts cost.
it was just some door handles and the shipping was only about 1/3 of the s&h charges. i can understand some handling, but wow! i could only imagine what the handling would be for a large item. $$$$$$$

I bought a tilt column for my ’67 GTO from Gary’s GTO last summer. I paid for the item within 24 hours of winning the auction, but it took him almost 7 weeks to ship it to me. He told me that he wasn’t the one who took care of the shipping, that’s why it took so long. When I finally got it, the tilt lever was missing. I know it’s a relatively inexpensive part, but his auction ad specifically stated that the lever would be included. I emailed him for the lever and included a copy of his ad. This went back and forth. He finally conceded. He told me, “I guess you have to win this argument.” I wrote back and told him that it had nothing to do with ‘winning’, I simply wanted delivery of the goods that I purchased. I think I’m on his no-bid list too. Who cares? I see he has nice stuff from time to time, I was just so disappointed in his customer service that I don’t think I’d buy from him again.

Well guess what about Mr. Gary & GTOGOODIES, form my earlier post you know I purchsed a product and he would not take a credit card. The long and short of it he said he would leave no feedback and I should read better.

Well I checked e-bay today and much to my disbelieve Gary had left feedback......

POSITIVE I was an A+ customer and a very knowledge buyer......... Go figure.....
Just wanted to share.

How many negatives do you have to get on ebay before they won't let you sell on there. He seems to have an enormous amount.

I Had a bad experience with this guy also. Bought a "perfect" '65 gto fiberglass hood from him about 4 years ago. After it arrived at the shipping terminal, I brought it home and unwrapped it. It was busted up in a few places. No one wanted to accept responsibility, neither Gary for his careless wrapping, nor the trucking company for man-handling a fragile item. The trucking company said I should have unwrapped it and inspected the item for damage at the terminal to be able to receive damage $. Finally got a little $ from the trucking co. Months later after the repairs were made, I tried to mount the hood on the car. The "perfect" hood I was promised was warped and definately doesn't fit the car very well. Buyer beware with this guy.

Bought a full set of black 66 GTO deluxe seat belts from him last month. I went to snipe the ebay auction last second and my computer burped and missed it. I emailed him and he replied he would sell the set in the auction for $400 which was what I bid so I agreed. He was OK with a credit card. It took him over 1 month to get them to me, and he had about 4 more auctions go off with the same identical picture in each. I was worried because the next auction was won at over $500. Figured the higher bidder would get the nicest set. The set I got was a decent set, but not the one in the auction I thought I was buying. Pompous would definately be a good word to describe him after several phone calls wanting to know where my stuff was and when I could expect it.

Good info regarding the Wyoming parts.

Someone had a good idea in the thread about ebay sellers. I have to make a list of the GOOD sellers I've dealt with. Some guys/gals are great and seem to go the extra mile for ya. 4slash6 on this forum is one of them.

I won an item from them on Ebay and sent the money order the next day. About one month later and no part, I contacted them and asked where my part was. They said that they hadn't shipped it because I hadn't paid. I researched the money order and verified that it had been cashed at a bank in their town 4 days after I sent it. They said that they had no record that they had received my payment. I stated that this was the same problem that I had with them on a previous purchase. They reluctantly sent my part, but insisted that I obtain a copy of the cancelled money order so that they could verify the signature. They said that they would reimburse me for the cost of the cancelled money order ($12.00). I received it, sent them a copy, never heard from them, and never received the $12.00. I haven't dealt with them since and don't intend to in the future.

Whew! I don't do too much on e-bay but saw some a couple of Gary's auctions for some 'show-quality' parts I wanted and, although out of character, I decided to bid quite a way, way higher than I normally would to obtain the quality parts pictured. Each time I was 'sniped' by bids that were beyond my wildest dreams for those parts. Couldn't believe people would actually pay those ridiculous amounts. After reading this forum I guess I was actually lucky I have a slow dial-up connection.

Default heads-up

I've been tempted, but comparing some of his auctions will give you a clue. He seems to have alot of "doctored-up" items. Excuse me...I meant "professionally restored." My bad. As for feedback...I learned the hard way as well. Three negatives out of over 250 positives. One non-paying bidder and a scammer wanting money or else. Also a guy not unlike Gary...sold a throttle bracket pictured with the "T-2" facing down, then stating it came from a '69 Judge. Called me an ignorant moron after I left fb calling out his deceptive practices. These guys never answer e-mails.

jeg - I was thinking the same thing. look at this $225 ashtray for a 66-67 GTO. I thought the tray was supposed to be plated, not painted like his restoration is. Maybe I'm out of touch too on the way prices for parts are headed. Guess the $250 I paid last summer for a largely intact '67 Lemans WITH an ashtray wasn't too bad a deal.

Default GTO Goodies Gary WARNING !

As others have been burned by GTO Goodies , so have I. I had been told by Gary that I was getting a restored 70 GTO dash bezel after 2 - 3 weeks after ordering in June. He charges me premium price in early July and then I get run around from them until I reach him 2 weeks ago (mid Sept) to only ask about the status of it. Gary tells me I am too particular for exchanging a rechromed bumper that has rust on it and cancels my order on the dash bezel . He hangs up the phone after telling me to go home and cry to my mommy". He finally gets around to getting me a refund on MC today only after filing a dispute. What an unprofessional A$$$% and although he has hard to find parts its definitely not worth the aggravation to deal with.
