That is exactly what I wanted to convey. Thanks for the clarification! Also, some of them are stamped fairly light as shown in the photo above posted by "roundportroundup" and some are stamped a bit deeper. However, no where near as deep as the bogus unit shown in the opening photo by "RAIII RAGTOP". |

Rest assured...as I'm sure it was me, with my ADD and all.[lol] Anyway... the plot thickens. Educating ourselves and each other is undoubtedly our best defense. Restamping is seemingly acceptable with the top automotive restoration professionals in our hobby and with other marques as well. Corvette guys have been at it for years. I cannot condemn the act, but to purposely conceal the act or intentionally deceive without full disclosure...therein lies the crime. Corvette restorers claim that if someone pays for a "numbers matching car", that is what they expect. One got his stamp kits confiscated with the GM trademark infringement suits that flurried a few years back which had the restoration businesses shaking. I worked for GM at that time, and their greatest concern had nothing whatsoever to do with this hobby, but bogus parts such as brake pads bootlegged in Saudi Arabia and causing lawsuits involving GM over parts they neither produced nor endorsed.
