I used Sherwin-Williams "Dimension" product line.
The color is none other than Lucerne Blue.

Mine is getting done today. He said there were a lot of imperfections in the paint but he could make it look better.

Looks nice Larry. Color is fairly close to mine but I think mine is a hair darker. Good job!

Larry, question about the rear spoiler - was spoiler attached when painting, or was it painted separately and attached later? If attached separate, is there any kind of sealing strip, etc. between spoiler and decklid? Thanks!

REALLY tasty work, nice color - truly inspiring!

I painted the spoilers off the car then installed them.
There is a clay-like sealer gasket that is applied at the factory around the mounting hole to prevent water from leaking through. Other than that, NO sealing strips.
This stuff is easily found at paint retailers or auto parts stores that sell paint supplies.
Don't recall what the name is but they should know.

I've been using Meguires # 3 for over 15 years. I've been wondering if there was anything out there better, and scared to try. Guess you just answered my question Larry. Beautiful Job.

did you paint the blue in sections or the whole car at once...?
is your garage temp controlled...?
how long did the blue and clear take to dry...?
id really like to try this if i can do it without my neighbors smelling it...

Larry, I have to hand it to you man. If I painted my car and it turned out that nice, I would NEVER have had the nerve to try that stripe. I'd be too afraid I'd screw it up.
It looks great. Kind of Macho T/A looking.

Thanks for the comps guys. I've done the stripe deal before on my old '70 SS chevelle and El Camino. For this project, I cut a pattern to one side of the hood crease so all I had to do is flip it to the other side of the crease to make a mirror image. I outlined the edges using white 1/4" pinstripe tape, its easier to form the corners this way.
As for the other questions...
"did you paint the blue in sections or the whole car at once...?"
YES...spoilers off, but then painted the whole car with them on.
"is your garage temp controlled...?"
NO
"how long did the blue and clear take to dry...?"
blue is ready to clear in about 20-30 minutes, then the clear(with hardener) was added to the base-color which then takes about 2 hours to cure and dry "to the touch" at 70 degrees.

Larry:

Who's that knuckle head in the reflections picture shown above?

Did you sand between base coat and clear coat? That is what I have done in the past but your comment above made it sound like you just applied clear over base without sanding.

The car looks awesome. When will it be for sale and what powertrain is in it?

I was leery about sanding on metallic paint, its not like a solid color where it's consistant from top to bottom, so I left it alone and applied the clear over it.
I'm still working the details(other than paint) to get ready to sell.
Its a L78 400, auto, 2.56 rear, runs like a top and handles like a new car.
Should be ready to sell next month.
