OK, here's where I show my ignorance (again ).
Which one of the mounts are the "core supports" . I'm willing to to do a little on the spot modification - just wondering what I'm getting in to here.
Thanks

The core supports are in the front of the car (the front section where the radiator is). The supports that come with kit are round and are thinner than those that are used on the body. The core supports that came with your GTO are most likely square.

The problem with the core supports is that the stand off on the mount is 1 1/8" in diameter and the core support hole is 7/8". I turned the 1 1/8 down to 7/8 and adapted it that way. Not a big job, but then again it is round versus square.

Well, I soaked my mounting bolts for the past 2 days with PB Blaster. I couldn't stand it any longer so I went out & checked to see if they would turn and was able to get every one of them to turn freely with a rachet . This is good, right?
Ordered the new body & core mounting kit today so will see if my luck holds out. Hopefully this will cure the problem of my front U joint thumping the trans tunnel.
