My 700R4 goes in next week with a B&M 2400rpm stall converter and the Hurst dual gate shifter!

I've run a 700R4 with 2500 stall w/full lock up converter behind my 389 since 2000 with great results. Quicker on the strip and way better economy on the street. Love it! Now I'll find out how well it holds up to my new 455. Did max upgrade to trans, but haven't hammered it yet. Build it right and you'll be happy with the 700R4.

How did the 700R4 increase your gas mileage?

At 65 mph with the 700R4 in 4th overdrive, the engine turns at 2300 rpm. With the Turbo 400, the engine turned about 3200 rpm at the same mph. (3.55 rear gears) The 700R4 gave me 4-5 more miles per gallon on the highway!

GTOFormula, got the article thanks very much. I do have a question, wouldn't a 4L60 not the 4L60e be just as easy without the electrical lock-up?
Thanks again the article is great!!!!!!!!!!! BB |

Here's an idea, email me the aritcle and I'll put it up on the club's (Arkansas Pontiac Association) tech article section. We'll give you full credit for it and then you can refer people to the URL and won't have to do all this emailing. How's that sound?
Be sure to put how you want me to credit it. We'll also recognize GTOAA if you'd like.

Find you a 200-4R from a Grand National. BOP bolt pattern and I didn't even have to cut my driveshaft.
Gotta be a GN trans to handle the engine though. Mo-Betta than 700R4's according to Hot Rod and Car Craft. IMHO also.

I wish I could afford one but GN trannys are real hard to come by here and expensive.I already have the 700R4 tranny and summit racing has the adaptor for $51.00 I guess the biggest expense for me is paying for the driveshaft to be shortened I hope I can convert my shifter for it
