I was referring to the 65-66 kits that are real wood. His fit the best. They are also prestained and they have a peel and stick back. Nobody else does this. I agree there is no metal backing but there is a fairly thick vinyl backing that creates the same thickness and rigidity as the original metal backed dashes and once installed looks very original. The current reproduction metal backed wood kits have a thick metal backing that looks very noticably incorrect once installed. Also you have to stain the wood yourself as well as glue in place. All little things that add up. As far as the vinyl inserts, it still sure sounds like you got somebody elses vinyl insert. If you did in fact get his, you should see how bad the other brand is! Again, his are much thicker than the other brand we carry and the peeling is far less an issue with his inserts.

I think that this boils down to the issue whether or not some one is taking being in business seriously. Business is business and it is not a hobby where you can set your own timetable.

Anyone who seeks goods or services seeks certain criteria such as timeliness, good quality, fulfilled commitments, fair pricing, good communication, and follow up if there is a warranty issue.

I've been a self employed commerical general contractor for over twenty years. I have a good reputation for quality, value added services, timliness, etc. I can't get away with doing anything half-assed.

Apparently, neither can Darrellget away with doing things sloppy. Those that know him ought to review this thread with him and in a nice way, help him either set up his business properly with realistic turn arounds, charge the right amount of money so that he can offer the services that the market demands, and set up customer service properly.

There is a real demand for his services in restoring GTO dashes. All they guy has to do is fulfill that demand according to the requirements of the market place.

I guess with the Texas heat they can still peel, However re-read my post. His are better than the others available. I guarantee the others would peel and wrinkle worse than your experience. I have used both versions for years.

Default dash repair

i also sent a dash bezel to tx and was told my near perfect dash board arrived damaged, but was told they could fix the damage for an extra cost,so not seeing the damage told them to go ahead with the work.well after 6 months and no dash and no returned call or emails was fianlly called and told dash would be done at the end of the week, again waited and waited,no dash, call them again and again, get a call telling me it was sent out,no dash check the tracking number they gave me and they sent it to the wrong address.go and pick it up and open the box and dash wasd in three pieces, and on top of that they sent me the wrong dash, they sent me some one else's dash, call them again no return call finaly the wife calls me back and tells me that fedex needs the dash back and that they will only give me 300.00 for a dash i just payed them twice that to repair it.two months later finally get money from fedex and no dash, the money i got didn't even cover the cost of finding a new bezel which cost me close to 600.00 to replace

I'm sorry to hear that you have also had problems with this company. It seems, that the best thing would be for others to consider this before sending them any work they need done. People on other fourms. And, people in car clubs who I know, have said they have also had problems with this company. And others have said they were happy with the work they have done. So, spin the wheel and place your bets. :)

Mike,

Your description of events between us is amazing. I am not sure how you could be so wrong about the conversations that we had about the core you were to send us. You were told up front that we needed a good quality core to start with. We turned your dash around in a 6-week period. I have pictures of the quality of our work. We made 4 calls to you after you received the dash and you never would talk to us. I guess that you would rather talk to people at 2:30 am, after all that's when you tried to call our business. I wonder why, if you were so unhappy with the dash that you did not talk to us about it. We are more than reasonable, up to a point. When you decided to commit libel and slander against me, is when you made the decision not to be reasonable. I have emailed you for an address, but you will not even respond. I think you know why I want an address for you, and that's why you hide behind a mailing centers address. A-Body has made a good observation about you, and I think he and others are correct. You are never happy about anything that someone restores for you even when you receive good work. At some point, there will be no one left who will deal with you! I also talk to everyone about this situation. I want them to know the truth about what happened.
Sincerely,
Darrell Roach

I refuse to get into a pissing contest with you, but your telling a huge lie. I have the confirmation from when you got my check, and the crap core you promised was for parts only. And then, I have the confirmation from when it was sent back to me and it's five month. I also know others have had problems with you. My mailing address is a place to send and get packages, because in my area only UPS will come this far each day. I, use FedEx only unless I have no other choice. So, I'm not hiding but like my local post office, that's twelve miles from here. I send mail, ship and so on from a place I can walk to rather than drive across my county. As far as hiding goes, you are one of those who hide your auctions as well as feedback because you don't ant others to know how you really deal. I may have been taken by you, but the fact is, you lost so much more than just anything I may have had you do again. You lost the trust of others who have read my post on pontiac sites. Because, before some of them decide to simply ship you something. The'll remember this and the others who have had trouble with you. And, look for someone else to have their work done by. Someone who they can send it to and not remember the things people have said about you. And not said about the others. As far as I'm concerned, what goes around comes around. And just as I've said before, don't judge people before you know them. I can judge you, because I know you to be a person of without honor. And ya know! That's something no amount of money can buy you, or no amount of BS will allow you to feel. By the way, I wrote a letter along with some details and paper work to the GTOAA on your dealings. Tell me something, if you were a decent Judge of these cars, how many points would you deduct from my car if I had the guts to install the dash you sent and charged me for? How many points would it cost me using something that you yourself made? Don't bother, in fifty years you'll still never get it. I do not wish you any bad luck or problems. I'm the one who feels bad, because I can't use a service from a company I trusted. And that means, more looking around. And by the way, most places I deal with do a very good and decent job. Dash came back wonderful. Dewey does a wonderful job on the boosters, Merl did all my tri powre carbs and plated them for a very fair price, and in less than ten days. Legendary took responsibility and made things right. Which by the way they never disputed anything I complained about. Also, Break booster rebuild was great and looks like new, wheels were better than I expected when I had them done. Now, you mentioned everyone I have anything restored from I'm never happy with. See, you don't even read what I'm posting. I have not posted any problems about having any parts restored. Other than from you of course. But hey !! Did you read the post right above your post? Silly you, that's another person you did medician with and he ain't the whole list of your fan that much you already know more than anyone. I'm done now, and will only work from my end to see that no one I know has the chance to deal with you, and lose. We know some of the same people which was new to you, and the sad part of it is that when you started out. I, asked others to allow you the chance to get things going because you were the only one doing it. And yeah, you can and have done great work many, many times. Why else would I have sent my 700 bucks to you? bye now

Now, did I say he never does decent work? No, I never have. However, when mine came after several months it was peeling right out of the box. again, don't judge me until you know the facts. At one time, we were getting help from those who were responsibile for 9-11, or are you to wet behind the ears to remember back that far. Again, I never said he never did decent work. Why would I have sent paid him for his bezel and more money for a fast turn around if I didn't believe he was stand up. Read what some of the others say. Like right up the road a few post's from you. You may have a nice car, but how many times have you used his service, once? Like I said, read what some of the others have to say. And then, write to The goat herd GTO Club of Portland and ask them what they think. GTOAA club of the year six times, and sponser of Tiger Run from day one. He's caused enough problems in that club alone, they won't even take his ads even if he wanted them. Which by the way he used to run his ad in the news letter from the goat herd. Until they refused to except it. And Ain't it nice, yer another Texan, and close enough to vist the guy if he were to screw you enough you were PO'd. So of course, he's not going to stick it to you. I never said he was an imbecile. MY OFFER STILL STANDS. BUY ONE OF HIS $700.00 RESTOS FOR $200.00 and shipping. Same box, same invoice (with dates showing he lied in his post) So how about it skeptics? Who's packing the gear to spend the small amount of 200 bucks to eat your words. And, man enough to admitt it once you own what I paid seve for? By the way, I mean what I say, and I'm a man of honor and willing to ...happy has heck to get two bill for it. So come one Tex, send me secure funds and it's yours. And then, you can photograph the heck out ot it and show the whole world. Mine even has my name on it he placed there himself, so no switching on my part. Now, either pay up or let me respond when needed about this chump because others do not need to learn the way I did. Or, the way many others have. Just because the locals get nice work does not mean everyone gets the same thing. Decide for yourself, but if anyone who's considering having him do work done by him. Remember this, you can't complain once it happens to you too. Because, you have other choices and you've heard from myself and others how he deals at times. And like the other member says. Fool around, get hurt, don't come crying to me. :)~~~~* Now, no hard feelings people. I am still betting I can get someone to spend $200.00 and I'll take the money and send my bezel to one of the others who have never had anything bad said. They take a while and cost a bit but what's it worth to have it done nice and done without it peeling before you even get it back?

OK, now I'm also looking for a set of E heads in nice condition. Willing to pay ohhhh 300 if they are nice. Let me know. < Mike >

Heeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyy Darrell. Am proud to announce that I may have turned off 2, hopefully 3 people in my area that were thinking about you restoring? their dashes. You make it right with Mike Fisher and we can talk. What I advised these people to do was read this thread and think real hard.

Thanks for the heads up man! .......I have read this entire thread and came to the conclusion that I will NEVER deal with the accused if I needed a dash restoration!.....It appears, by the posts, that the accused does do good, decent work 99.9% of the time however it's still not 100% and that's what bothers me!.....The one tenth of a percent of people who are not satisified with shoddy workmanship deserve a better deal or a complete refund and NOT be ignored just because you're not part of the 99.9%!.....This sounds like bad business practices and should be reported to the Better Business Bureau which I suggest everyone should check into before dealing with any so called reputable businesses!......The right thing for the accused to do would be to refund the BIG money spent or send an EXCELLENT restored, to the best of the accused ability, dash!......Thanks again for the warning!

I'm sorry to read about all the problems you people are having with Darrell. I bought a bezel from him 2 years ago for my 68. I didn't send in the core as the radio bar was cut out. I have no complaints about any of the process and must say that I was highly impressed with the quality of the work. I bezel looks outstanding with absolutely no visible blemishes. I guess I am one of the 99%ers but I would have no hesitation sending him more work.

Guys,I cant say that I have delt with Mr.Roach, other than meeting him.I spoke to he & his wife at Greenville 05 about a dash bezel and ashtray resto..I thought they were on the high side on pricing. He acted as if he didnt have the time to talk with me,or care if I did bussiness with them or not?So I didnt use their service.(personality goes a long way).I want to chime in on another party doing this work.AutoInstruments.com.I have used him several time for clock resto.s,and turnaround and workmanship were outstanding.Im going to have them restore a 66Lemans dash for me soon.($308)This seems very resonable to me.They are located in Matinsville,Va.I will let you know how it turns out.I think these boards are doing what they are supposed to do,let you read opinons and make your own.Everyone keep-up the good work,Kenny

Yes it can be a real EYE OPENER. I have adjusted my consumer behavior based on how vendors handle them selves. I hope I have adjusted other consumers behavior as well! The Bottom line is the bottom line. The buck stops here!
