No, I had $500.00 into it, and sold it for $1000.00

Really it doesn't matter to me, I just posted the photo if someone wanted to copy the design. It worked great for me.

Here's some pics of the one I just built.

I looked at alot of different home built designs and manufactured units. I decided to design my own, based on my personal requirements.

First, it had to be extremely safe & stable.... I have 2 small children and a large dog that frequent the garage getting bikes,toys,rollerblades you name it! Also, I'm aways working on my car alone....I removed the body and mounted it to the rotisserie by myself, so stability was major for me...don't want to be dead!

Second, my garage is a 2 1/2 car attached, so space is very limited. I wanted to be able to store the frame assembly under the body when I needed the space, or the project was sitting idle.

I have more pics if anyone is interested. I think I'll be selling the rotisserie when I mate the body back to the frame..... maybe December.

Nice rotisserie Matador and a good idea on the storage area, very unique. I too looked at many different ones to get ideas on how to build one that best suits my needs. I am pleased with the way it turned out. The car will spin with one finger and it will stay in any position on it's own, and I can lock it down every few degrees so I'm always in a comfortable working position. Also I need it to break down into many small pieces for storage purposes when not in use. Its a great tool to have and makes life much easier. Sorry no plans for it though, I made it up as I went along.

Matador...that is really nice...WOW....my only question is does the ability to lift horizontally get locked into a position...or is there always tensionon the cable system? once again...very nice!

Matador, that really is a nice design could you post a side view picture? Now that you built this is there anything you would change if you were building another one. Is the unit stable front to rear and side to side with no bars tying the two units together?

Dar,thanks.... I was real happy with how mine turned out also. Nice engineering on your rotator piece there. It'a amazing,once you get the car balanced,how easy it is to rotate.....my 7 yr old daughter can rotate it no problem.

Norton70, no it does not lock. the winches have worm gears so there is no way for them to "free spool". So yes there is always tension. I was planning on drilling holes thru for bolts....but my drill bits were getting dull and I was to cheap to buy new ones. Without a drill press it was alot of work drilling thru all this steel. Ultimately,stops are not really necessary for my home use.

In terms of stability front to back: If your moving it around much I would use them. I spent alot of time mounting and balancing the body to minimize instability. It is extremely rigid where the body mounts to the rotisserie.
For my home use,I wanted to minimize cost and trip hazards so I omitted the connecting bars. For business use I would probably tie them together.

There's 2 other uses for my rotisserie,I found by accident:

1) I used one end of it to pull my engine.

2) As a door caddy (a little big!)

matador-IV, I have to add too, that that is a good design. would be easy to add hydraulic jacks too if prefered. that may be the route I go, but one question, without tying them together, can you still roll the assembly around the floor easily?
