Once again, an internet-jockey is compelled to share his opinion with a bunch of people who don't care.

I like the car; it's far cooler than any "restoration" ever will be.

Hey, whether you find it silly or not there is no doubt that car attracts some serious attention. I saw it at a local car show. Glen Burnie perhaps? Can't remember for certain as I went to several local shows last season.

When it pulled in heard people yelling across to eachother & pointing. When I saw the car from afar figured it was just another Pontiac with a blown BB Chevy. Was very happy to see someone had done that with a Pontiac. Might not be the best set up peformance wise, but it does serve to show people that something besides a Chevy, Ford, or mopar can be made to run well. And I think all will agree we need a bit more of that.

Yeah,it's an attention getter,like the "spoiled brat" throwing a fit when the other kids dont wanna "play the game,their way"...

Why is it that people who claim to do this or that to show they're "unique" or "different" go ballistic when a few of the sheep "dont get it" and speak their own minds???

If one is truly an invidual comfortable with "standing out in a crowd" and being "unique",they should care less what anybody else thinks,that simple.

But if a person is just an "attention whore" who just craves the adoration of the masses,they'll often wanna just lash out at those who are "less than impressed" by the self-appointed "greatness" of thier creations.

A true individual does'nt need to "stand out" or prove they're "unique",they are comfortable to stand on their own merit,regardless of any other folks opinions.

Get over it,whatever the adjectives were used in reference to the car...

Some of us folks are just fine with our "plain vanilla" '72 white firebirds (not even a formula!),no need to try and "impress the masses",or prove a damn thing to any others,just driving 'em and having fun is enough for us.

BTW,'72 birds are a pretty rare bunch!

This "spoiled brat", "attention whore" wasn't attacking everyone who owns a white 72 Firebird. I wasn't attacking anyone who owns a stock car. I have heard, read and seen THOUSANDS of people who don't like my car. I expected that. I knew going in that it wasn't "everyones cup of tea". But as far as going "ballastic", I don't think it went that far. I was just replying to an obviously uninformed person who may not know WHY I did it and just posts a thread titled "Stupid double blown" on their own......not replying to a post made by someone else. He obviously felt strong enough about it to start the thread so I felt strong enough to respond. I guess I'm just different than most people. There are a few car sites that I go to that have a ratings system to rate the cars on them. If I like a car on there, I give it a 10. If I don't like the car, I just don't rate it. I'm not gonna slam somebody elses car who may not be perfect, or "my cup of tea" just because I don't like it. It's their car and they can build it the way they want, paint it the color they want and modify it any way they want. I keep most negative opinions to myself. I have had friends email me links to MANY other websites where my car is getting blasted by people who are haters. Some I just laugh at, others I shake my head at and others where I feel the need to respond. I usually respond to personal attacks, like "stupid", and ignore most of the ones who want to tell me how to engineer it so it will work better. Or how I can make it faster. I have no problem with those that disagree with my taste, but why feel the need to start a thread bashing it??? There are plenty of threads that have been on here (PY) about my car where he could have responded that he didn't get it or didn't like it. No big deal. So I feel he just hasn't read the posts that showed why I did it.

I don't think my "self appointed greatness of my creation" is a truthful statement, but you are entitled to your opinion. I have friends who have dumped upwarss of $100K into their creations......Some Camaros, some Chevelles, some Mustangs, some street rods.........and they blend in at car shows. Nothing worse to me than having a $100K Pro Street 69 Camaro sitting beside a $30K Pro Street Camaro and nobody noticing the difference. I'm a Pontiac guy and wanted to stand out from the crowd of other Pro Street cars......without spending $100K. I feel I did that.

Bills car is truly awesome to see. The paint is gorgeous, the interior is flawless, the engine/blower combination is.....well, HUGE!!!

Truly epitomizes the notion that too much is never enough.

I must say, when I first seen pictures of the stacked blower, I took the rolled eye approach . After seeing the car in person at Norwalk and the Woodward dream cruise, I took on a whole new appreciation for his car. It truely is a work of art. And I think Bill has achieved his goal of "standing out in a crowd"

Talking to a guy at work about the dream cruise (a month later) He says, "Did you see that orange GTO with the 2 blowers?" With thousands of cars and millions of people at the cruise, and his car comes up in conversation, thats "standing out in a crowd!"

Mission accomplished!

Our hobby is always split in two....The stock boy's or the modifiers.
Simple as that. Some are more stock then others...see the guy's with the crayon marks. Some guy's are more modified then others....see Bill's ride.
I love em all. And they both get on the cover of HPP.

Personally, I'm a stock guy. But I do appreciate the workmanship on cars like Bill's.

Would I build it myself? Probably not

Like Rug said, stock vs modified. To me, Bill's beautifully crafted ride represents the spirit of hot rodding and making your car like YOU like it. What's wrong with having every eye on your car everywhere you go because of it's uniqueness? And he drives it, unlike the perfectly restored trailer queens seen once a year @ the Nationals.

I think his car is awesome. I am building a blower car for the sheer shock value. Bill has taken this to the next level. I think its cool that it runs. If you think its stupid, consider this: none of these old pontiacs are practical at all. We all own them because they look cool. So they are all kind of stupid, but I don't care. I love my gto and I want a blower that sticks through the hood... because when I was a little kid I saw cars like that at a car show and I always wanted one.

The car IS an excellent job. I've seen it both at Norwalk and VMP. Attention to detail, quality of paint, etc. THAT'S what a show car is about. The more outrageous some of the equipment, the higher on the list, outside the "stock" realm.

It isn't all that far-fetched, either. In the early '60s, there was an early version of a funny car called "Miss Deal". I believe it was Revell that made a model of it. It was a '53 Stude with a Chrysler Hemi and a "pyramid" intake and two GMC blowers. I believe Edelbrock fabricated the manifold, but have no real info for that. I DID see the car once, when I was 12, at Fontana ('66).
