Mchell,

I don't think there is any 'rule' against milling heads a certain amount, it is simply more cost effective to start out with a head that is closer to what you need rather than milling 0.080" off the decks.

"absolutely NO issues with intake fitment or warping...." Am I to understand you took a full 0.080" off the decks of those 96's and did not have to remove anything from the intake face or the intake manifold istelf???...Robert

Robert,

yes, that is correct.......I agree, if you can find a head to match your compression goals, thats great........many times, with pontiacs you will be to high or inevitably to low to acheive the compression you are shooting for.................for the small cost of milling it was worth it tp me...

Great infor Mchell,

I ended up taking 0.040" off my 6X-4's to bring them down to 90cc's. They were almost the size of a 6X-8 (98cc's) when I started on them. Added to the 0.015" I took off the block to bring the L2262F pistons to zero deck, I have removed a total of 0.055" overall.

As of yet, I haven't cut anything from the intake face of the heads until I do a test fit of the intake.

Pushrods will have to be custom in the 413 because of the hydraulic roller cam.

I notice you are using an iron intake and manifolds. That's an impressive number!!!

Robert,

I read your post again.....I did mill the intake side of the heads, I did not mill the intake.......I read your post to quick and interpreted it as milling the intake itself......

When milling the heads over .030 you will want to mill the intake side of the heads to achieve good fitment......you will likely have to mill some off the intake side of your heads to get good fitment...... not uncommon at all....of course you may get lucky with your setup, but I would mill the intake side of your heads to ensure good fitment of any intake you wan to run....
