Does that seem like a lot of money for that car or am I crazy?

I'm just waiting for my quarterly bonus to come next pay period so I can get the timing chain, water pump, and exhaust done. After that I plan on putting some miles on the car. I've already logged close to 200 since i've had it. I'm kind of paranoid about driving it untill all that stuff is done. And I hope to have it all done in time for the atl bop. It will be close but if I sell that front end sheet metal I can get it done sooner. If you guys know anyone that needs basically a front clip for a 65 fullsize let me know. And yes it is not all rusted.

I have a '63 Safari done car that is poised for a T-10 4 speed conversion once I get the remainder of the clutch & flywheel parts here. I have a '66 GP 421 HO car that I am thinking about taking in to have a few dings touched up on. Giagantic frame-on restoration stalled on a '66 Bonne 2 door, which the more I see the more I realize is one of he most solid specimens around. Going for the best job I can possibly do on that car, so I am trying to get some more experience in on my other cars before I tackle that in earnest.

Main focus is on rebuilding the engine in my '66 Bonne wagon. I have been cleaning up the engine bay & all the components & painting them while I wait for the word on the bore from the machine shop. Left some of the components in the car, brake system, A/C, Etc., so it takes forever to detail the engine compartment with all that stuff in there, but it is getting done. Going to try and get the wells painted today & maybe start to work on assembling a core support patch for around the battery area.

As was said above I also have a ton of other stuff going on around involving the Spring season. Trying to get something other than crabgrass established in my yard & a ton of other outside landscape work should really be attacked.

Just goes to show all you have to do is say we have not been talking enough about our cars & the floodgates will open right up!

Looks like Big Pontiac Forum membership has at least doubled but that spouses have temporarily made The Yard our #1 priority.

i've had the majority of my herd for years. none are completely done, neither will they be ever be 100 point show cars. i like to drive them and i do, daily if possible, weather permitting. i do 99% of my own work, as a self employed auto tech i have a rough time trusting what others do. i said i was done buying projects a couple cars ago the 65 g/p is one of my favorites and i couldn't pass up the one i bought. the cars are built as money /time allow and that usually equals slow progress, especially when there's a customer car here.

my last car post was pics of it painted i believe..since then, have sold the saide pipes and instead stuck with the rocker trim...got almost everything else on, just have rear wheelwell trim to put on, and then all the window mouldings/drip rail. Have to wait for some nicer weather, as im gonna let a window shop put that stuff back on, for fear of scratching the paint...
This upcoming weekend will do the wheelwell trim, and stereo/carpet. Hopefully the following weekend will allow for me to take it to window shop.
In a coupole weeks will have all my new weatherstripping for doors, trunk etc. Then, just have to save up the $$ to have door panels and misc. interior work done and the car is FINISHED....I hope to take it for its first real drive around the middle of april, and have it done completely by the start of may.
Also on the agenda for next weekend: pulling out the Bonny from beside the house, taking it to school to fix, and hopefully prime, the horrid dents in the rear quarters.
Needless to say, been busy
Will have to post a current pic of the car soon, looks shweeeeet with most of the chrome and stuff on..

I don't see how some of you guys do it. I only have ONE Pontiac and Trying to get the best I can and the way I want it is keeping me in the poor house. I refuse to put anything on a credit card that I can't pay off at the end of the month. I'm selling stuff on eBay just to get a little cash to get the motor back together and up to Reno. My friend is doing a lot of the work up there while he's laid off his job. I don't know how long it would take to get the car finished if my friend didn't have the time to work on it for me. It's 79 deg. here in Central Calif. would sure like to be out driving around in the Catalina.

I don't think any of us here are independently wealthy... It's always a balance between paying the mortgage and spending money on an old car. On the other hand, you're out there in the land of rustfree cars, and guys like Pittsburgh 64 and me are up here in the snow belt.

I noticed in your profile you're an electrician; so is Pitts, I'm an electricial engineer, and I believe there are a few other people here of the sparky persuasion. There must be something about electrical people and old Pontiacs.
