Skip- To tuck things up and to gain space we used a remote oil filter and also the Global West tublar control arms gave John a bit more room. After I get the new headers & exhaust system ceramic coated I'll take pictures of the new headers next to the old set.
Here is a side view picture. You can see the bottom of the Canton oil pan sump to the left, and it's a custom built with a 1-1/8" deeper sump than their regular Road Race pan, and the 200-4R transmission pan on the right is a deeper Hughes cast aluminum with extra capacity. The new headers and collectors are higher than both and you can see the frame rail in relation also. http://www.centexhotrods.com/Steve/after1.jpg |

I have a friend with Hedman Hustlers #35133..(Round Port) They fit really well on his 78 Trans am. So well in fact that I ordered a set yesterday.. These are 1-3/4" x 3"
I have pics from a guy on the board with Doug's on his 76 Trans am and are pretty closed to ground.. Charles |

Anyone ever cut the flange off the headers and use a slip fit and band clamp ?
The flanges and mufflers are my major drag problems.... It looks like I could just use my hack saw and just cut them off and buy some slip fit collector extensions to make up the front of the exhaust. Opinions before I get happy with the saw ? Thanks |
