All four wheels are 8" wide with 4.75" BS. One thing to note would be that this wheel/tire combo would not have filled up the wells so nicely if the car wasn't lowered. This combo with a stock ride height would look pretty silly.

Could you tell me the distance from the ground to the highest point on the edge of your wheelwell openings? I wouldn't expect you to make a special trip to get that, but I figured you might know that dimension off the top of your head. Stock or in a settled stock car is about 28". I always measure there to see if the car sits straight. The GM dealer said if right and left are under .5" that is within specs. At 1/2 inch difference, your car may be noticeably tilted.

No problem. There is a slight rake to the stance. The fronts measure 26.5" and the rear sits at 27.5". There is less than .25" difference from side to side.

I'm probably going to put a smaller tire up front with a 17x7 just to rake the car out a little. For some reason the front of my '77 sticks up higher than the back. It's driving me nuts. Hopefully I'll get up under it and find those dumb parts store screw in spacers in the springs.

I think it was done for a lower, longer look. It's more aerodynamic too. I think it blends very well with the body. It appears most people liked the new look, since they sold more 79 TA's that any other year in history .

If you ask me, I think the 79-81 nose is better. The 77-78 nose gives the car a sharper look. The 79-81 TA nose with the spread head lights gives it a little bit of a wider stance. Which I think is better looking. I'm not just saying that because I own a 81. When I compare cars I forget about my favorite year so I get a true thought and feeling on the subject. Steve
