Absolutely.At least GE makes the" head" out of steel.GM makes the "head" in a 420,000 pound locomotive that costs seven figures out of PLASTIC.

If you are on a locomotive where the "inner" door or the back door opens by themselves and/or won't stay shut?I guarrantee you that you are on a EMD unit.And they have figured out how to make the cab cramped with only TWO people in it.

Up untill the advent of the SD-50(early mid-80's-do you sense a theme here?)EMD owned the Locomotive business.They actually made a hot-rod Locomotive(the SD-45).The tables are completely reversed now.As of now-it's completely reversed.Across from the head is bunch of electronic gear.One day i noticed that the gear was made by GE.You suck so bad that you stoop to using your only competitions equipment in YOUR product.

This is the bottom line. That exact thought would run through my mind whenever I heard the sound of someone's unit/hallway door slapping the metal frame. It was just like a cell block.
Same thing with the key fobs. Don't think for a second that the sound of your car horn penatrates every one of the sliding glass doors (each unit has one; most facing the parking lot) and multipile tenates per building are getting their peace disrupted, like it or not. There is something so cool and reassuring about hitting that door-lock button as you're walking towards the building with your back to the vehicle.

On my building, one of the two security doors had a malfunctioning hydraulic closer. It would brake the door once at about 8-10 inches from the latch, then 'drop it' hard the rest of the way, THOOOMM. The sound would echo through the building. I would hand close it out of courtisey, if I happened to use that door. Everyone else, THOOOMM, THOOOMM, THOOOMM, THOOOMM...... all day long. And of course, these were the tennates (along with) that would have multiple visitors that would come and go dozens of times a day.
I told management about the busted door cushioner more than once, but it fell on deaf ears (no punn intended). If I go back there five years from now, I bet that door will still be crashing shut the same way.

Yeap Same here it bugs me big time!, Probably why I have put soft cushions on all dooors! and even installed a slow return toilet seat!. Gf's Kids even slam the doors, and trunk on the car, its a 2009 altima they shut with ease! why all the slamming? I was raised not to slam, could it be cause the damn doors were heavier than most anything back then! My dad's 65 wildcat 4 door had the heaviest hood i ever lifted on a car! U could literally hold it 1-3" off the latch and it was shut tight! Slammed my finger once in the back door closing it, man did that hurt! ,lol
