On that note, the orig. owner of my Goat received $400 against trade for his Chevette, and the Used Car manager bought the car from the dealer for that amount- and made what he felt was a killing by suckering in the youngster(ME) for $1200 cash! Of course I found out from the other salesman who handed me the keys when I returned with the total sum the next day after making the deal. He couldn't believe that the greedy SOB cheated me so badly. I really didn't mind and was happy to pay the $1200, even though I had earned it the hard way since I was 13, washing dishes at my aunt's banquet house. I later did the math and realized that I worked 600 hours at $2.00 an hour to get that car... Of course today that would be considered criminal child abuse on her behalf! The place was thick with smoke, the water was 150 degrees and I washed lipstick stains off of 'on the rocks' glasses until 2am on a normal Saturday night from 8th grade until 12th to save that dough

On a side note- I couldn't afford insurance so I threw my mom's plates on the car, and drove it home (7 miles on the main drag) with one pal in front of me in a lime green Charger, and one behind me in a baby blue Firebird, so that cops couldn't get up behind me. I guess we thought we were being sneaky and discreet. I loved that car more than any girlfriend I had in those days! What memories!!! All thanks to the fella who traded his GTO in on a Chevette for his $400 allowance!

My first car was a 1-owner 75 Vega GT.
Great car and wish i still had it - Blue Met/White GT Stripes/Blk Buckets/4spd/Tach&Gauges/AC/Hatchback.

But i wouldn't take a dozen of them, over one 69 TA.
