12,600 for a convertible that is all in one piece and you can drive home ain't a bad deal these days. You probably paid about what it is worth.
I've seen some late 60's through early 70's rag tops of different big 3 brands and models under 10K over the last several years, some even drivable, but they were extremely rough cars that needed a lot more work than what you describe yours as needing.
Not necessarily a big fan of clone cars, especially since I think LeMan's are pretty nice in their own right, but the GTO stuff on the car sweetens the deal for most people.
Personallly, if it were my car I might be inclined to reverse the badging/hood/tailights part of the cloning. You could probably get more than enough for the GTO stuff you take off the car to cover the cost. But still not a bad deal at all.

Thanks for the info. Ya, I think in my uneducated way, I likely didn't overpay by too much, if at all. I would be more worried if I was the only guy that bid on it (ebay), but there was one guy that bid on it right before me. Don't get me wrong, it was only two of us, so maybe we were both on crack Either way I am super pissed when I first saw it, I called my wife and was throwing the F-bombs like crazy (not at her, but about the car)

Would I buy it if I had gone to look at it? Not likely, but what's done is done, and I will be happy if I can get it all done by the end of the winter and we can enjoy it for the summer.

I know a lot of guys are purists. I am in a way, but only if the car is rare/unique. Even then sometimes I don't care as long as it's tasteful. My Viper is a relatively rare car, but I am still looking to get aftermarket rims and ditching the factory rims.

The car I was looking at before my wife decided the car had to have enough seats for the whole family was going to be a Cobra replica. It needed less work than the car I bought, but it needed some mechanical work (nothing big but it backfired and the exhaust rattled), the paint was chipped and it was $17400 more than what I paid for this.

I think as long as I accomplish stuff I will be happy. Don't get me wrong, I get super angry working on cars and I have to say I don't think I enjoy it. I like learning so I can fix my own stuff and not pay someone $100+/hour though

There should not be any difference between tempest/lemans/gto door sweeps.

Just bought the sweeps off ebay yesterday. They are pui ones, so I hope all ends up good. Just have to get the weatherstripping too. Here's to hoping these aren't a collosal pain in the ass
